I am not a happy camper at the moment...

Well... my countertop has to be remade. All my giddiness went right out the window. This is going to be a short post since I am beyond aggravated.

First, let me state I absolutely LOVE the Formica 180fx Soapstone Sequoia laminate!! Great color! Great pattern! I couldn't be more pleased!

The problem (I think) lies with the man who came to measure. When I mentioned to him about the cast iron sink I ordered (but didn't have yet), I said it does not fit a standard rectangular cut. It has to be curved. I pulled it up online to show him the sink and he read the specs. "No problem. No problem at all," reassuring me.

Well guess what??? The sink cutout was the standard rectangular cut so my new sink doesn't fit. Which means it has to be remade.

So now my sweet hubs has to reconnect the cooktop and old sink again. Then he'll have to disconnect them when the new countertop comes in. Then reconnect them yet again! Which is a big pain in the *ss!

They offered to buy a new sink that would fit. But heck, I want the sink I bought to fit! I know many of you can understand my frustration and quite frankly being ticked off!!

Let me also state the team who came for the install were very nice and were embarrassed by what happened.

So now I have to wait. Who knows for how long? The "idealedge" is a special order.

But here are some close up photos of the actual countertop.

I have photos of the old countertop demo my hubs and I did. But I'll save that post for another day.

For now, I need to grab my camera and go take "Betsy" for a spin and look at the beautiful autumn foliage and try to clear my head.

"Happy" Monday, all.

...Take a deep breath Miss Peanut. I know these things can be a royal pain in the bum, but it was someone else's fault, not yours so it is out of your hands and what is done - is done. Just picture when it's all said and done and you'll be rolling out cookie dough and pie crusts on your new countertop! It is gorgeous tho'! Great choice! :o)

...Hope you enjoy your ride in the country!

...Peace & blessings. :o)

I knew many could relate. Truthfully, I'm not one to make a complaint. As a matter of fact when I should, I never do. It's not my nature. If I told everyone the stories that have happened to us since January with appliance repair, front entry door purchase/installation, porch roof repair, garage door opener installation (the list goes on) you would think we were on Candid Camera. You "ol' timers" will get that one. ((giggle))There used to be a time when everyone (especially in the trades) took pride in what they did. It's not that way anymore. It's to the point where you can't find anyone willing to do the work.
If I had grandchildren (boys or girls), I would tell them to forget college and go into the trades. Be the best and take pride in their work. Folks would be knocking down their door to hire them until their retirement.

On the bright side, you will have a beautiful new counter and sink eventually and at least they are making it right. It sure is frustrating when the experts don't seem to listen! I know our mini kitchen remodel was fraught with contractor issues...our floor was replaced THREE times and needs to be replaced a fourth time. We finally demanded our money back and are 're-grouping and in search of a new floor. But deep breath, your counters will be lovely soon! Jane

Holy smokes, Jane! Three times??!! I don't blame you for getting your money back. We have some plumbing issues but my sweet hubs talked me out of finding a plumber today. Truthfully, I don't think I could find one in my area anyway. He said he'd tackle it.

Hi sweet, Birdy! ♥

You picked a great countertop. I love that one! It will look great when it's done. Too bad they didn't double check their work. Complain. No way should you have to change to a sink you don't love because they made a mistake.

Thanks, Dixie. I absolutely agree with no way should I have had to change my sink because of an error they made! That is ridiculous. I will complain. But will wait. The last time I complained (before completion), a local GE repairman broke my chops about how long it would take to get a part to fix my washer that was under warranty. Then told me he couldn't come back to fix it for another 2 weeks. Thought he had the upper hand. Well my sweet hubs was so ticked, he fixed it himself. Sure we voided the warranty, but it was worth it. GE will never get another dime from us. (I know they could care less, but it's the principle.) ;> )
I wish I could have seen the look on the repairman's face when I told him we no longer needed his services.
