First, the color is perfect. I was worried it was going to be too white. Or too yellowish white. Nope! It's the perfect off white and it coordinates with the paint colors in the kitchen. Yippee!!
I'm even diggin' the genuine imitation barn wood looking blades! I'm guessing it's the same imaging technology used to make laminate counter tops. Pretty cool.
Am I thrilled to replace the chandelier I have now? Nope. But for a ceiling fan this has the esthetics I was looking for with the practicality we need.
So I think it's a win-win.
I have no idea how we're going to hang it though. Being a cathedral ceiling there is no attic access. There is no way were are going to remove all the shiplap to move the junction box. That being said, the fan needs to hang where the ceiling hook is for the chandelier. But that's not where the joist is. I think the weight of the fan is too heavy not to hang it from a joist. Or maybe we can since it's a vaulted wood ceiling and not drywall? Am I making any sense? ((hee hee))
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be much obliged!

I'm sure if there is a safe secure way to do it you and your talented husband will find it but I'm thinking the fan does need to be secure in a joist. Between the weight of the fan and the natural "wobble" they can have, things could get dicey(haha literally) when you crank that bad boy up. Then again I'm no engineer...good luck!
I'm glad that you're happy with the fan. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue as to how you can hang it. Sorry. I'm sure you'll think of a way.
I have to tell you about my great find. I'be been needing a bookcase and have always wanted a Barristers Bookcase. Well, we just got one from a place that was closing for a song. Delivery and assembly cost more than the price. Its in excellent condition. I spent the morning cleaning and polishing it. YaY me! Have a good weekend.
The shiplap ceiling is thick and strong enough!! YaY! But the only problem is (like our living room ceiling fan, the wire from the junction box to the ceiling fan will be exposed. Which means we'll have to use a wire cover. Icky-poo-poo. Oh well... I'll just paint it to try and blend it in. :> )

I wish I could say that there were scores of bookcases waiting to be snatched up, there was just the one. It was in a laundromat being used for storage. It's five feet tall, with four shelves. It's oak, so it fits in beautifully. I love it. They weren't going to put the doors on in case we didnt want them-they're the best part in my opinion. I hope your husband get his bookcase some day. He'll love it.
