Ooh, your dining room looks so pretty. I love how the sun shines through on the walls like that. Cozy. And thank you! May yours be the same as well. :-)

Good morning, Karin! Well, I'm adding more primitive colonial to my "so called farmhouse." Rats.. one day I'd like to just say.. FARMHOUSE. Heehee Anyway, are the plates on your dining room wall pewter? And can I spray paint the plates to look like that? Which is best to use? I hope you don't mind my asking. Thanks a bunch! :-)

One more thing.. :O) As you know, my walls in here are Behr burnt almond (medium brown). I painted most pieces in my living room white last year. I do have wood pieces that I didn't paint and red panel curtains. Does that look colonial primitive for a living room? I've been researching and most living rooms aren't white. I mean the furniture items. I should send you some pictures of it and ask for your advice, if that would be ok? Hope I'm not a being pain in the.. :-O Thanks!

Denise~ My plates are pewter and old tarnished silver. I think Rustoleum makes the best "metallic" spray paints. I believe they make an Antique Pewter color, too. You know me, I say, give it a shot and see how it looks!
Over the years I've had dark primitive wall colors like red, green and mustard yellow. I can honestly say out of all the colors I've had (and I've had many,) I prefer off white walls. Of white walls are your "canvas" and your primitive/country/farmhouse decor pops against it! Especially your wood accents. I think a colonial primitive living room looks great with painted furniture no matter what color the furniture is painted. But that's just my opinion. I'm sure back in they day everything was mismatched. Unless you were wealthy. Which most weren't.
Go with your heart. If you love it, who gives a hoot what anyone else thinks? With everything I've done around here, my sweet hubs can attest to that! :> )
