Never Operate Your Stove...

with a head cold.

Heck, my brain is foggy and spins around enough as it is! The last thing I needed was to catch my hub's sore throat and cold. But I did. :> (

I figured I would try to muster up enough energy to make myself a poached egg for breakfast this mornin'.

So I turned on the stove top. A few minutes later I got a whiff of somethin' on the grill and it wasn't spare ribs. Nope. Is was the remote control to the kitchen T.V. I turned on the wrong burner and didn't see it sittin' there.

Actually, the way this looks is the way I'm feelin' right now.

Ya know what's even funnier? I hit a few buttons hopin' it still might work.

Man, I'd better go back to bed. I'll chat after I come out of my head cold coma. See ya then...

I'm Not The Only One...

Who enjoys the fresh scent of my bed quilt dried out on the line. Ahhhh....

When I turned my back for a second, I found my sweet Darla had hopped in the basket.

A (Furry) Material Girl...

When it comes to material things like dog toys, Gracie is quite selfish.

We recently bought a new Nylabone for all three girls to share. But this isn't your ordinary Nylabone. No siree Bob! This one has a bonus nubby part on it that (supposedly) tastes like mint. I haven't tried it so I can't say for 100%.

Notice how she is guardin' this new toy from Darla. She sat there for about 30 minutes, facin' the wall and starin' straight ahead. If I put one of those big fuzzy black hats on her she'd make a perfect guard at Buckingham Palace. She didn't flinch.

When I came closer, she refused to look at me but immediately whipped her other paw on top of it with a death grip.

Man, for such a lil' thing she sure has a lot of attitude. Could it be small dog complex?

Whew!! I've Been Busy...

'Tis the season for plantin' my annuals! YaY!! I love the vibrant colors these lil' beauties bring!

'Tis the season for black flies too!
Sure, y'all are thinkin', "How bad can they be?" Well when I say "black fly", I'm not talkin' about your average house fly.

These nasty lil' buggers are a bit larger than a pinhead and make mosquitoes look like sissies. Even Dracula would say, "Thanks, but I'm full" and couldn't keep up with 'em.

I never experienced them until we moved here. I was outside plantin' flowers and I when I came inside my hairline and neck looked like somethin' out of a horror movie. Blood drippin' all over me! To make matters worse, these bites turn into big ol' red welts on your skin. Which makes for a real attractive look. No amount of Cover Girl is goin' to hide those babies. Heck, slap some braces on my teeth and I feel like I'm in junior high again!

So until we get a few days of really high temperatures, I will continue to douce myself and my canine girls with Avon's Skin So Soft to keep them at bay.

Of course they never bother my hubs... He says it because he's not sweet enough.
I beg to differ. :> )

Here's a sneak peek at what I've been workin' on...

Have a happy and safe Memorial weekend! Remember to fly those American flags!

Remember, It's More Than Just A Day Off...

These heroes are dead. They died for liberty - they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars - they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead.
~Robert G. Ingersoll

Here's wishin' you and your kinfolk a happy and safe Memorial weekend.
Please remember to fly your American flag...

Ain't No Sunshine, 'Til Now...

It has been so cold and gloomy these past few days.

But when I saw the most intense sunshine tryin' to peek through those gray dismal clouds; I quickly grabbed my camera, ran out the door and snapped away...

I Think She's Tryin' To Tell Me Somethin'...

I woke up this mornin' to find my latest bald and neked dollie I'm workin' on, holdin' a package of PaperClay.

Hmmm... I'm guessin' she wants me to sculpt somethin' for her to hold.

But what or who could it be now?

I'll keep ya posted...

Gonna Kick Off My Shoes And Run In Bare Feet...

Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet.

Man, every time I ride my bike I am greeted with such beauty! I am truly blessed!

This handsome young feller just stood there lookin' at me like a deer in headlights.
;> )

Look at the size of that woodchuck hole!

I think the Osmonds are livin' in there.

Here's a boatload of tent caterpillars. We have a real problem with them in these parts. I almost lost my breakfast when I saw them. They give me the willies.

I'd better put my shoes back on...

Yikes!!
