Finished painting my little farmhouse studio...

and I'm so pleased with it!! The walls are Benjamin Moore's "Dove White." The trim and wall shelves are Benjamin Moore's "Edgecomb Gray."

It's so light and bright even on this gloomy day!! YaY!!

My sweet hubs wanted me to get rid of our old dining table. But I told him "Heck no! Someday I might need it!"
Sure enough, I did.
I now have a place to trace out my patterns and cut fabric. Yippee!!
Stella has a cool hangout spot under it.

My dad built those pine shelves for my mom back in the 70's. In the 90's she decided to take them down asking me if I wanted them. They've come with me to two homes now.

I've been hanging onto that antique wooden pulley since we pulled it out of our dairy barn years ago. I thought it would be cool to hold my measuring tape.

An old door knob will do the trick, also.

Since this is where I'll create, I wanted to surround myself with things near and dear to my heart.

The massive photo is of my precious Darla. She is the reason why I will always have a Boston Terrier in my life. She taught me so much. ♥

Here's adorable Hannah and my favorite photo of her. Hans (black and tan) was my first dachshund. Dachshunds are wonderful and are our second favorite breed. ♥

I have a few things I made as a child, too.
Like this little squash guy. Circa 1974.

The first primitive dollie I ever made. I gave her to my mom. After mom passed, the dollie came back to me.
Old family photos...

So very true.
Both literally and figuratively.

Now that this is complete, I can focus my time on planting some annuals and possibly starting a veggie garden. I hope everyone has a terrific Memorial weekend!

Remember to turn off all your electronic gadgets, go outside and enjoy nature!

I've been working on...

my Americana Civil War Firewood Folks trio for a few months and finally finished them.

 photo 468536ce-12ce-4372-b50c-d96a3ba01fb5_zpshcipq9ux.jpg

Robert E. Lee, President Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant are all spoken for. But I wanted to share their photo.

Ulysses reminds me of a young Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. ((giggle))

We had a new log load dropped off so I plan on creating more Firewood Folks in the future. Man, I have such a blast creating them. But they take time to create.

Today I made a beeline to the Home Depot. They are having their Behr Memorial Day paint sale all week!
I've got my Benjamin Moore paint colors mixed and tomorrow I'll start painting my studio. Ooooh, I can't wait!!

Happy Sunday night, all!!

Fifty Shades Of...

WHITE! Actually, there's more than that.

Man, I cannot believe how many shades of white interior paint there are. It's truly mind boggling!

 photo whites_zpszg0qkky9.jpg

As I mentioned I am turning our spare bedroom into my studio. I am determined to paint the walls (Benjamin Moore) Edgecomb Gray. I've been hanging onto that paint sample for well over a year and by gum I want that color on the walls somewhere.

The name is deceiving because it doesn't look gray. At least it doesn't look gray to me. It's a beautiful neutral which I'm really diggin' these days.

So next, I need a trim color. I want to stick with a white. Well... a bundle of color chips and 45 minutes (standing in the paint store like a dope) later, I have decided on "White Dove." At least that is the color for the time being. ((giggle))

I know white is tricky. A lot depends on your natural light and/or artificial light. Then there's the undertones. Is it green? Yellow? Pink? Blue?? Do I want a warm white? A bright white? A cool white?? C'mon man! I can barely decide on a lipstick color! Don't do this to me for cripe's sake!!

How about giving a choice of say... Five.
Five is a good number. You can count them all on one hand as you hold the color chips in the other. Perfect.
But no, that would be too easy. Instead there's Chantilly Lace, Simply White, Pure White, Cloud White, Super White, Cotton Balls, Frostine, Navajo White, Baby's Breath, Chalk White, Oyster... and that is just one paint company.

Ooooh, wouldn't it be fun to have the job of making up names for paint colors?? I could have a lot of fun with that! ((hee hee))

Well, that's it for today. Not sure when I'll get around to getting the paint and then painting the room but at least I've got half the battle done.

Happy Thursday, all!

P.S.
We have sunshine today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:> )

6:11pm UPDATE: Already changed my mind. I may do the reverse. Lighter walls. Darker trim. I painted our keeping room that way and love the look.

I Couldn't Resist...

I went back for more copper.
Look at that teeny weeny strainer! Adorable!

 photo copper_zpsr7qab76g.jpg

So glad I did because I didn't see that awesome copper oil lamp until today! One of the gals who worked the sale (and also eyeballed it) mentioned she was shocked no one grabbed it over these past three days. Heck, I would have but I didn't see it.
A good thing I didn't because today (last day of sale) everything was 50% off. Yippee!!!

I asked if the owners of the home are antique dealers and she said they were. I could tell by the stuff in the house. They decided to move to Florida and quite literally leaving it all behind them. Wow! That's impressive. Not sure that is something I could do.

So on this miserable, damp, rainy and cold Sunday, I've got a huge pot of homemade chicken soup on the stove. Going to try out my "new" Heritage soup bowls. ((giggle))

Happy Sunday, all.

P.S.
If anyone out there has sunshine and warm temperatures, PLEASE send them our way. We haven't seen the sun in weeks!
Ack!!
