The First Day Of School Starts Next Week In These Parts...

So I thought I'd share with you one of my elementary class pictures. This was taken way back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Well, maybe a lil' later than that.

Can ya pick me out? I'll give ya a hint. Two over from me is a feller with a cute lil' round M&M head.

I remember there was a fellow class mate who wouldn't sit still. He kept gettin' out of his chair, movin' around and disruptin' the class. Our teacher always said he had ants in his pants but now days they'd probably say he had A.D.D, A.D.H.D., O.C.D. or L.M.N.O.P. Heck, maybe he had one too many Pixy Stix that day. Eatin' those were like eatin' right out of the sugar bowl. Or maybe all he needed was lil' discipline and have some boundaries set instead.

One mornin' she had enough. So she grabbed the maskin' tape and taped him into his chair. I reckon now days our teacher would have gotten in a heck of a lot of trouble for doin' that. But I'll tell ya what... it worked, 'cause he never got out of his chair again. Well that mornin' he couldn't, but after that he behaved himself.

I'm not sure why he's not in the photo though. He might have been tryin' to wrestle his way out of the maskin' tape.

Yikes...

I have this sign on our old barn door and you should see how folks look all around their feet in a panic after they read it.

We really don't have an attack chicken, I just thought that sign was so daggum funny, I had to have it. Although in the past, I have met a rooster I swear would have come at me with a lil' hatchet under his wing if he could. I can picture him peckin' a hole through the door sayin' "Here's Johnny!"

I love to collect signs. I have them all over our home, inside and out. Some are funny, inspirational and some make ya think.

One of my favorites reads, "Never get too busy making a living that you forget to make a life." How true.

My Next Halloween Firewood Folk...

He's as neked as a Jaybird at the moment because I'm in the process of stitchin' up some clothes for him. In the mean time, I'd better throw a towel or a fig leaf on him.

A good thing he has no eyes yet 'cause he's rather modest and would be shocked if he knew how many folks were lookin' at him right now.

I'm also workin' on my dollie for Ava Grace's auction and stitchin' up some new dollies for the ol' website.

I'll keep y'all posted.

I'll Be Ready In Another Five Years...

Our barn sale is done and over with. Whew! It was fun but it was alot of work. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful weekend either. Although I did get quite a sunburn, especially my lips. I guess that's because I was flappin' my gums so much talkin' to all the people.

Folks from all over the country stopped by. We even had some wonderful folks from Canada stop in. I could have chatted with them all day. They have those cute Canadian accents. But I reckon they thought it was us who had the accents.

Then we had this one ol' timer who walked up to us and asked "You're having a barn sale? How much for the barn?", grinnin' from ear to ear. (A real knee slapper!) I bet he told that joke to every sale he stopped at changin' the word "barn" to "garage" or "yard", dependin' on where he was. :> )

Hubs is thrilled with all we sold because now we can turn that spare room which was filled to the ceilin' with boxes, into a library area to keep all his books. But I'm sure y'all can guess I have different plans for it.

If ya haven't had a garage sale for some time, its somethin' to consider. Not only will ya empty out some of the contents of your home; it brings this vast land of ours and folks a little closer and I like that. Besides, now I have more room in the ol' homestead to bring in more "treasures". But I don't want hubs to read this. Soooo....

Just A Subtle Reminder For Me...

To stop complainin' about this heat and humidity.

There. That worked. I snapped the above photo after the Nor'easter hit us this past April.

So now I don't mind at all how as soon as I walk out the door, my hair look like Moe from The Three Stooges. Really, I'm fine with it.

It's T-riffic how my clothes stick to me when I walk and how it feels like the air is as thick as molasses. Heck, who needs to breathe anyway?
Yep, I l-o-v-e that heat and humidity... :> )

Lazy Dog Days Of Summer...

Well maybe for my Darla, but not for us. We're gettin' ready for our barn sale this comin' weekend.
It's been 5 years since our last one and Lord knows we need to do this.

Its also the weekend for the Madison-Bouckville Outdoor Antiques Show.

If you ever get the chance to come out to these parts, this antique show is a must. It's about 15 minutes from our home. Folks from all over come to walk the beautiful central New York countryside and purchase all kinds of goodies.

So if you happen to be headin' out to the show, swing by the ol' Countryfolk Keepsakes homestead and check out our sale. We may not have a boatload of antiques, but we will have a "Free Box". I reckon ya won't find that at their sale.
:> )

Oooooh, and lookie at this... My dear friend Cookie/Rolling River Primitives tagged me for the "You Are A Doll Award". Thanks Goob!!

Hubs chuckled at that one. He knows all too well my "Jekyll and Hyde Syndrome", better known to many of us gals as PMS. He walks around the house with garlic around his neck and steers clear from me for a few days out of the month. He's a wise feller... :> )

Here's my pick of five:

Blondie~Vintage Primitives
Cookie~Rolling River Primitives
Greenie~Greeneyez2
J-O~PlainNSimple
Tink~The Blackberry Briar

There are soooo many more I could add, but I'd be sittin' at the computer typin' names 'til the cows come home.

Unexpected Company Dropped In...

I woke up to find this gaggle of Canadian Geese eatin' all the fallen apples from our apple tree.

They honked, ate and honked some more. They also left "cigars" and I don't mean rolled tobacco...

Well Thank Ya Kindly...

What a pleasant surprise to see this. Blondie from Vintage Primitives tagged me for a "Nice Matters Award". Thanks darlin'. :> )

Now it's my turn to pick 5 other artists. Gee, I feel like I should be wearin' an evenin' gown and openin' up a fancy envelope when I say these names:

Chickadee Primitives ~Annie

Cart Before The Horse~Joee (Dylan too!)

Goldensage~Shirley

Symple Tymes~Sherrie

Twoheads Primitives~Jen

Some of these artists don't have blogs, but you can check 'em out on eBay. All you gals are sweethearts and I am blessed and thankful to have y'all in my "internet life."

My two very dear friends Blondie/Vintage Primitives and Cookie/Rolling River Prims have already been tagged for this which is why I didn't add them. Geez, there are many more but they've already been tagged too. All are well deservin' of it.

ANOTHER Sign???...

Folks, I'm not pullin' your leg when I tell ya I walked outside this mornin' and there lay another lil' empty bird's nest. This one was right by our back door.

"My Name Is Karin And I Am An Unorganized Packrat..."

Yep, as much as I hate to admit it, it's true. *sigh* So I've decided its time for a barn sale and get rid of some of this stuff.

I flip through the television channels and see all these 1/2 hour shows about getting your house organized. My first thought is why in tarnations would I want to put something back in the same spot after I use it? I would much rather grab what I need, use it, and put it down somewhere so when I need it again I can spend a few hours looking for it. Makes sense, doesn't it? Hmmmm... Not really huh. So I've been going through the house, putting stuff into piles just like those T.V. folks say to do. But the "get rid of pile" doesn't have much in it.

My biggest problem is the clothes closet. I don't know why, but I'm hanging on to clothes I've had forever. Lord knows I may want to wear my flashdance style sweatshirt, leg warmers and pumps when I go to the mall. Or better yet wear my ruffled shirt (like that Prince), my paisley blazer and some Lee Press On Nails when I head down to the local diner for breakfast on Sunday. Then there's those one pair of jeans I MIGHT fit into again some day. Of course they are so small I think I was an embryo when I wore 'em last, but hey ya never know.

So it looks like its time to box up my old clothes and let 'em go. Although they say the clothing trends eventually come back in style. But do I really want to wear a tube top with spandex pants and Candies again? If I do, just shoot me.
