It's A Very Special Day For Us...

+

=
A marriage made in Heaven!
Make that about 99.9% of the time. ;> )

Happy Anniversary Darlin'! I love you!!

It's also my daddy's birthday. Since he was no longer with us, we wanted to honor his memory by gettin' married on his birthday. We had the ceremony right on our beautiful property. Seein' it was my second time around, we wanted nothin' fancy, just family and a few close friends.

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The sun was shinin', the birds were singin' and immediately after we said our vows to each other; a gust of wind blew through almost takin' my hat off.

I looked up and smiled... Daddy gave his approval.

Busy As A Beaver...

I am so drawn to this area where some beavers live. I find myself visitin' it everyday on my daily bike ride.

They are such hard lil' workers!

I guess there's no need for a dental plan...

I Went For A Bike Ride Today...

As I peddled down the path I couldn't help but appreciate and be thankful for the beauty God has graced us with. We are truly blessed.

He gives a playground for the critters...

He has a sense of humor...

He likes to keep us on our toes...

He surprises us with unexpected beauty...

And this is how some show their appreciation and gratitude.

Sigh...

Earth Day...

Today is the "official" day. Goin' green is all over the media this past week in preparation for today.

But I'll bet ya dollars to donuts once it hits midnight tonight; they'll be back advertisin' for us to buy, buy buy. So I reckon the other 364 days we will continue to be the throw away society we've become until next April.
Man, I get frustrated because its so hypocritical. Maybe I'm the only one who sees it that way.

I swear McDonald's and Wal-Mart should have to pay some kind of fine for all the garbage they produce on this planet. No matter what part of a country y'all are from, whether ya live in the city or the country, you will see a discarded McDonald's wrapper/cup or a Wal-Mart plastic blue shoppin' bag on the side of the road, tangled in a bush or stuck to a branch of a tree. Ya can't escape it.

I can't help but shake my head when I then see a T.V. commercial to buy a green environmental friendly cleanin' product at Wal-Mart and if I do, it will help save a whale or somethin'. Yep... they're laughin' all the way to the bank as we turn a blind eye because they have the best prices in town.

They paved paradise and put up a (Wal-Mart) parkin' lot...

Happy Earth Day Folks.

It's Goin' To Be A Red, White & Blue Summer...

Some of the artists in The Humble Arts group are salutin' the good ol' U.S. of A. on eBay! Make sure ya check us out!

Here's a sneak peek at my offerin'. He'll be listed later this evenin'.
He's based on Leah's/Country Cupboard pattern.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNIE!!

My other baby girl turns 8 today! If ya have a Doxie, ya know they're too smart for their own good. She has gotten herself into a lot of trouble over the years. She goes by other aliases like:
Hannie-bal Lecter and Hannie-Bin Laden.

Even though she has chewed a hole (more like a crater) in the arm of our new sofa, many Mark-B-Gone markers, my seam ripper, pencils, pens, spools of thread and managed to eat my friend's leather boot (within minutes after her visit), I wouldn't trade her for anythin' in the world.

But I've learned if somethin' comes up missin', I just go look in her dog bed and its usually there. Did I mention she's a kleptomaniac too?

We Went For A bike Ride Today...

YaY! We were finally able to ride our new bikes. We had a blast! I don't think I did too bad either, seein' I haven't been on one in over 25 years.

I'm no Lance Armstrong, but I held my own. Best of all, I didn't take a dirt nap. Came close, but no cigar. My hubs did tell me I ride like a drunk monkey though. :> )

We went to our favorite waterin' hole. Not a bar, this is really a waterin' hole! Enjoy!

A beaver was really goin' to town on this one.

More Countryfolk Trivia...

Dear, sweet Stace of Tattered'nTorn Prims tagged me to tell ya five things about myself. Are ya ready????

1. When I was a baby, I never crawled like a normal baby. (Gee, who would have thought?) I used to sit like an Indian (sorry for my political incorrectness) and scoot around on my butt. To this day, I still like to sit that way but I don't move quite as fast.

2. When I was 6, our family was at my uncle's (Polish) weddin'. I kept complainin' to mama I didn't feel good and that I had a real bad belly ache.
Since she thinks everyone is a hypochondriac; she kept tellin' me I was fine and to "Go do the polka with your cousin Tracy."
Well later that day, daddy took me to the E.R. and I had to have an emergency appendectomy. So now its a standard joke when anyone tells me they're sick, I tell them to "Go do the polka with your cousin Tracy."

3. I spent my 7th birthday in the hospital for that same appendectomy.

4. When I was young'un, I used to play my 45 record "Lime In The Coconut" on 78 speed and lip sync the song. I always made mama and daddy laugh. (For you young'uns, playin' a 45 record on 78 speed sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks)

5. I have a couple of tattoos. (But I didn't get those as a young'un) My mama, my sister and I wanted to do somethin' special one year to celebrate my 35th, sis's 40th and mama's 60th birthday.

YIKES!! Is Bigger Really Better?

(For the record, that's a quarter)

Hubs grabbed some strawberries from the grocery store yesterday and I came across this freakish monstrosity. Actually, one of many.

What in the Sam Hill kind of growth hormones and genetic mutations are goin' on with our produce and food? Do we really need to eat a strawberry the size of a fist? Am I the only one who walks down the produce isle shakin' my head at what I see?

I firmly believe in that old expression "You are what you eat." I learned that the hard way about a year ago.

But now I'm afraid I'll wake up one mornin' lookin' like Alice the Goon. Heck, my feet are big enough as it is!

So I hopped on the trail and brought my trusty ol' camera with me.

Oh man, this is awesome! All this walkin' has given me an appetite too! I wish I brought a bag of Tostitos...

Ooooh, I hope its Guacamole or better yet French onion...

Awww shoot... Nothin' but a dip in the trail.
