Earth Day...

Today is the "official" day. Goin' green is all over the media this past week in preparation for today.

But I'll bet ya dollars to donuts once it hits midnight tonight; they'll be back advertisin' for us to buy, buy buy. So I reckon the other 364 days we will continue to be the throw away society we've become until next April.
Man, I get frustrated because its so hypocritical. Maybe I'm the only one who sees it that way.

I swear McDonald's and Wal-Mart should have to pay some kind of fine for all the garbage they produce on this planet. No matter what part of a country y'all are from, whether ya live in the city or the country, you will see a discarded McDonald's wrapper/cup or a Wal-Mart plastic blue shoppin' bag on the side of the road, tangled in a bush or stuck to a branch of a tree. Ya can't escape it.

I can't help but shake my head when I then see a T.V. commercial to buy a green environmental friendly cleanin' product at Wal-Mart and if I do, it will help save a whale or somethin'. Yep... they're laughin' all the way to the bank as we turn a blind eye because they have the best prices in town.

They paved paradise and put up a (Wal-Mart) parkin' lot...

Happy Earth Day Folks.

  2. In their behalf, I did see that Walmart was selling the cloth grocery bags - I think plastic bags should be outlawed! Did you know that there are so many littering the lands of West Africa, they call it their national flower!

  4. I know just what you mean. We dont have Walmart here (it sounds like an evil place, its mentioned in several environmental books ive read lately) but plenty of other shops telling you to buy "buy, Buy, Save, Save" and pretending at the same time to be "green"

Happy Earth Day to you too. I wonder what NoImpactMan has to say about earth day... will go check.
