HOLY SMOKES...

The storm that blew through knocked out our power yesterday mornin' and we're not sure when it will back back on. (We're hopin' by tomorrow evenin', so they say.) It affected about 13,000 (very unhappy) customers.

Man, ya don't realize how good you have it until its taken away from you. We are truly blessed to live in this great land of ours!

Thank the good Lord above for the inventions of wood stoves and generators. I'm able to sneak on my computer to check my emails and be toasty warm.

Please keep the folks who aren't as fortunate, in your prayers. The temps have been in the 20's and they have no heat.

Man! If we don't get water soon, I may have to roll around in the snow with a bar of soap!

UPDATE:
We've got our electricity back on!! YaY!!!!

What The??!!!

I couldn't believe my peepers!! Heck, it can't snow yet, I'm still rakin' up leaves!!

Mr. Pumpkin wasn't too thrilled either.

Before...

After.
He lookin' awfully tired. (Could it be because of the mainstream media biased coverage of our national election?)

I may complain about the early snowfall...

But it sure is pretty.

Hmmm... I should design a shovel/rake combo and call it a "Shrake."
Hey! I might be on to somethin'!!
Maybe Billy Mays will back me.

More Than A Feelin'...

Man, I've been feelin' lower than a mole's belly button on diggin' day.

Photobucket

After dinner on Sunday, I started to show signs of what we thought was food poisonin'. But when hubs didn't get sick, we realized the chicken I made wasn't tryin' to get his final revenge.

I had horrible waves of nausea, body aches, a massive headache, stomach pain and I wore a path in the floor from the couch to the bathroom. I couldn't fathom eatin' a thing so poor hubs has been makin' himself grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner these past few days as I lay there like a corpse with three dogs piled on me.

I guess there is some kind of stomach/intestinal flu goin' around. I'm convinced I have the words "Contaminate Me" stamped across my forehead because I get every kind of stomach bug there is.

What's even worse is I have a dentist appointment this afternoon. Sigh. So I'd better jump in the shower and take care of these hairy tarantula legs.

All Work And No Play...

Makes Santa a dull boy.

What does Santa do to get away from the monotony of the North Pole?

He plays in a pile of leaves neked as a jaybird. I bet that Santa suit can be quite restrictin'.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend playin' in leaves without a stitch on though. But come to think of it, I reckon it could be quite liberatin'.

Nah, I can't imagine gettin' a rash or a bug bite where the sun don't shine.

I'd better get him out of there and ready for the November Humble Arts.

I'll keep ya posted...

Definition Of A Jerk...

After seeing where our American flag is in this photo, I would prefer to call Bill Ayers something else.
But there is no need to waste my time typing about this "American" because a picture is worth a thousand words.

If I could, I would love to ask him one question. "If this country is so bad, why are you still here?"
Like my daddy used to say, "Either sh*t or get off the pot."

A very simple question, right? My guess is he wants the best of both worlds. Where else could he live in a lovely home, eat good food, have top notch medical treatment, wear quality clothing, sell his books, travel the country at his own free will, have a great paying job, live a prosperous life AND be allowed to spew and act out his violent radical anti-American behavior?

So while he's stepping all over our American flag, he'd best remember this... Many other countries would have let the air out of him a long time ago.

Be very thankful Mr. Ayers...

Photographs And Memories...

Make that "colored pictures and memories."

I must thank my mama for bein' a packrat. She has saved so much stuff since I was a young'un. I am so grateful!

I was goin' through our closet and came upon a box filled with cards made when I had my emergency appendectomy surgery back in 1970. I think many of ya remember the story about how my appendix almost ruptured when our family was at my uncle's weddin'.

I kept tellin' mama my belly hurt. She didn't believe me and kept sayin' "Go do the polka with your cousin Tracy." Daddy ended up rushin' me to the E.R. To this day, that line from my mama is also a standard joke whenever anyone tells me they're ill. I tell them to "Go do the polka with your cousin Tracy." :> )

I ended up havin' to spend my 7th birthday in the hospital. While in there, I was given handmade get well and birthday cards from all my class mates.

Today, I sat there readin' each card with the same (but much older) smile on my face. They are precious!! So I thought I would share a few with ya.

Ooohh... Looks like I found me a birthday cake!
Made by: Janice.

Here I am standin' next to a life size birthday cake. Man, can you imagine?!
This one wasn't signed.

Here I'm gettin' ready to be carted off on a stretcher. But at least I'm still smilin'.
Made by: Sandra.

I'm layin' in my hospital bed. Check out that Dippity-do hairdo.
Made by: Marjorie.

This one is my favorite. Even though I was sicker than heck, I was STILL able to be a Super Heroine. Up, up and away!!!
(I wonder who I knocked out?)
Made by: Tegid.

All you folks with wee ones remember to hang on to all their childhood art. They don't know it now, but they will be forever grateful.

Oh, You're My Best Friend...

I've been doin' cartwheels since we brought "her" home from the hardware store yesterday!

I know... It doesn't take much to make me happy. But havin' this new rake makes my life so much easier! She's huge!

We do have a leaf blower, but that's hub's toy. I think he like to pretend he's Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator when he's usin' it.

I was wonderin' why he kept runnin' and hidin' from one pile of leaves to another in camouflage. Sometimes he'd even tuck and tumble with it still in his hands. I guess the only way to kill the creature is with a leaf blower.

But do ya really want to know what I love most about my new best friend???!!!
LOOK!!!!

Yeeeee-hawwwwwwwwwwww!!
