Man, every year it gets harder and harder to see things up close. Sure, I have "cheater" glasses. Heck, I have a pair in every single room in the house yet I can't find a pair when I'm tryin' to see a number in the phone book.
I can't tell ya how many times I'd have a pair sittin' on the top of my head and another pair on my nose! Not only are my eyes goin', so is my memory.
I bring this up because I dug out my counted cross stitch Christmas stockins' I made over 20 years ago.
Holy cow!! Look at all those tiny X's!!
Now, my arms aren't long enough to hold them far enough away to see them.
For as long as I can remember, I've always loved to crewel, embroider and cross stitch.
As you can tell by those groovy colors, I did this one back in the 1970's.
Far out man.
I can't tell ya how thankful I am that my mama saved all my work.
I may start a new fashion statement and wear a giant magnifying glass as a pendant.

Karin beautiful work ! I love to cross stitch also . I hear ya ,the eyes are the first thing to go,then our fingers . The pains we bare for our passions !
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my page . I agree I wouldn't live anywhere else we have the best of all seasons ! :>}
Such nice work. Love those stockings and stitchins. My eyes are gone too and I've had to go to permanent glasses now. The days of readers and cheaters are long gone.

Wonderful work. How great is it that your mom saved them.
ReplyDeleteAs for the eyes.....well I've worn glasses since the age of 18 mos. Yeah, I was a dork with glasses from a long time ago. It funny to go back and look at pictures of all the different styles. Can't believe my mom made me wear some of them. yikes!!
