C'mon, I'll Take You To See The Wind Turbines...

Most folks know them as giant windmills.

I'll take the long way, so you can enjoy the autumn views.

Hello ladies!

These things are freakin' enormous!!

We've got 'em all over the place in these parts. It's "strange" how we haven't reaped the benefits of them though.

But I'm guessin' G.E. has.
**Cha-ching**

Didn't T. Boone Pickens get stuck with a whole sh*tload of them? About two million worth, I do believe.
Boy, he must have a huge garage.

  3. Peanut,

Such pretty photos of the New York countryside !

The photos look just like the one mile radius area of where I live except for the wind *mills*, but we could have those here to, the way the wind blows on this small mountain.

There are wind turbines below Altoona, Pa. and around the Somerset, PA countryside.

    Happy Autumn !
    Hugs,
    Linda

  4. There's a fair few here in England too, but like you, the average person isn't seeing any difference to the utility bills because of them. They aren't very popular. The military say they interfere with radar or something like that. Farmers don't want them near their fields as they claim the noise disturbs their animals. Now in Germany, communities have a vested interest in the turbines in their areas. They not only use the power they generate, but have the right to sell the excess energy onto others. Thats why it works there.

  5. As always, I love your pictures. I got to see windmills close up when we were driving through the desert in California last year. They are huge and scary and reminded me of alien spacecraft. I can only imagine how costly they are to make, install and maintain.
