Queen Anne, Queen Anne...

has washed her lace
(She chose a summer's day)
And hung it in a grassy place
To whiten, if it may.

Queen Anne, Queen Anne, has left it there,
And slept the dewy night;
Then waked, to find the sunshine fair,
And all the meadows white.

Queen Anne, Queen Anne, is dead and gone
(She died a summer's day),
But left her lace to whiten in
Each weed-entangled way!

Friday Giggle Time...

Men! Everything you wanted to know about being a good mate!
In the world of romance, one single rule applies: Make the woman happy. Do something she likes and you get points. Do something she dislikes and points are subtracted. You don't get any points for doing something she expects. Sorry, that's the way the game is played. Here is a guide to the point system.

Simple Duties:

You make the bed........+1
You make the bed, but forget to add the decorative pillows........0
You throw the bedspread over rumpled sheets........-1
You leave the toilet seat up........-5
You replace the toilet-paper roll when it's empty........0
When the toilet-paper roll is barren, you resort to Kleenex........-1
When the Kleenex runs out you use the downstairs bathroom........-2
You go out to buy her extra-light panty liners with wings........+5
At midnight........+8
In the snow........+12
But return with beer........-5
An hour later........-15
You check out a suspicious noise and it's nothing........0
You check out a suspicious noise and it's something........+5
You pummel it with a six iron........+10
It's her pet........-10

Social Engagements:
You stay by her side the entire party........0
You stay by her side for a while, then leave to chat with a college drinking buddy........-2
Named Tiffany........-4
Tiffany is a dancer........-6
Tiffany has implants........-8

Her Birthday:
You take her out to dinner........0
You take her out to dinner and it's not a sports bar........+1
Okay, it is a sports bar........-2
And it's all-you-can-eat night........-3
It's a sports bar, it's all-you-can-eat night, and your face is painted the colors of your favorite team........-10

A Night Out With The Boys:
Go out with a pal........-5
The pal is not happily married........-4
Or frighteningly single............................-7
And he drives a Mustang........-10
With a personalized license plate
(GR8 N BED)........-15

A Night Out:
You take her to a movie........+2
You take her to a movie she likes........+4
You take her to a movie you hate........+6
You take her to a movie you like........-2
It's called Death Cop 3........-3
Which features cyborgs that eat humans........-9
You lied and said it was a foreign film about orphans........-15

Physique:
You develop a noticeable potbelly........-15
You develop a noticeable potbelly and exercise to get rid of it........+10
You develop a noticeable potbelly and resort to loose jeans and baggy Hawaiian shirts........-30
You say "It doesn't matter, you have one too"........-800

The Big Question:
She asks, "Do I look fat?".
You hesitate in responding........-10
You reply, "Where?"........-35
Any other response........-20

Communication:
When she wants to talk about a problem, you listen, displaying what looks like a concerned expression........0
When she wants to talk, you listen, for over 30 minutes........+5
You listen for more than 30 minutes without looking at the TV........+100
She realizes this is because you've fallen
asleep........-200

Have a great weekend folks!!

You May Not Believe This...

But I am one of very few people on the planet who doesn't own a cell phone or for that matter, want one. (I heard you gasp)
You see, I'm not into all that newfangled technology. Give me a landline with a rotary phone and I'm a happy camper.

I see men, women and children walkin' around like zombies starin' at these contraptions as their life passes them by. I don't get it.
I have seen young folks literally standin' right next to each other, textin' to each other and not utter a word. Again, I don't get it.

But!
I might consider buyin' a cell phone like this...

I wonder if it comes in Harvest Gold??

Keepin' A 200+ Year Old Tradition Alive...

Today, we took a drive about 30 minutes away to a wee town called Miller's Mills to enjoy their Ice Cream Social.

There is a wonderful story behind this ice cream social. Take a gander at the video.

Not a big crowd for it, but with a population of 29+, I wouldn't expect it.

Weather permittin', we plan to go watch them harvest the ice next February.
Until then, we'll enjoy the beauty of this tiny town in the summertime.

But who's complainin'??

Delicious, Creamy Rice Puddin'...

In all my years of livin' on this here planet, I have NEVER had rice puddin' until recently.
I guess the thought of rice in puddin' just sounded bad to me.

But this sweet treat now has me hooked!!
So here's a recipe I found but tweaked just a bit.

Try it, you'll like it!!

Photobucket

3/4 cup uncooked white rice
2 cups milk, divided
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup golden raisins (Optional)
1 Tbs butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon

In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Combine 1 1/2 cups cooked rice, 1 1/2 cups milk, sugar and salt. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, 15 to 20 minutes.
Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk, beaten egg and raisins.
Cook 2 minutes more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat, and stir in butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Serve warm. (Or cold if you like)
Then dig in!!

NOTE: I used long grain rice and 3/4 C uncooked makes more than 1 1/2 C cooked. So it's best to measure it out.
Also add the remaining milk FIRST then the beaten egg.

Let me know what you think...

Here Are Six Important Reasons...

why you should be grateful this holiday weekend. Without these men, we wouldn't be livin' in the best country on the planet.

1. George Washington

"Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism."

2. Thomas Jefferson

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

3. John Adams

"Abuse of words has been the great instrument of sophistry and chicanery, of party, faction, and division of society."

4. Benjamin Franklin

"Educate your children to self-control, to the habit of holding passion and prejudice and evil tendencies subject to an upright and reasoning will, and you have done much to abolish misery from their future and crimes from society."

5. James Madison

"Do not separate text from historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government."

6.Alexander Hamilton

"Constitutions should consist only of general provisions; the reason is that they must necessarily be permanent, and that they cannot calculate for the possible change of things."

The Declaration of Independence.

The United States Constitution.

Do not take what they've done for us for granted. Keep their memory alive and educate yourself, your children and your grandchildren with correct American history.

Have a wonderful, blessed and safe Independence Day folks.
God bless...
