Will I ever learn?

Apparently not. I am a glutton for punishment.

I had mentioned I wanted to purchase a round braided rug for our living room. So I went online and started looking around. (That was my first mistake)

I found some that I loved. But with two dogs, a husband and quite frankly myself, I couldn't see spending 900 bucks on a rug we would destroy in a matter of months. Besides, I would rather use that money for my brick wall that I'm determined to do. (I still can't shake that)
So I thought I'd look for an inexpensive one.

Over the years, I have made some purchases from Overstock(dot)com. Every purchase I made I was unhappy with the quality, yet I always (unhappily) kept what I bought.

(Here's where the "I'm a glutton for punishment" comes in.) Well guess what? I ordered a braided rug from Overstock(dot)com and it arrived yesterday. Sigh.

It's called "Bayleaf." On the site it looked like nice deep colors. Won't show too much dirt and the sale price of 185.00 was right up my alley. I thought, "Perfect for our living room!"
I had high hopes.

Well, here's what arrived.

So here I am again with a not too crazy about overstock(dot)com purchase. But I decided I'm going to keep it anyway. Even though it's much too light, it's still a pretty braided rug.

The one thing that made me happy was to see it's made in America.
With the horrid economic state our country is in, I can't bring myself to return it.

So I asked the girls what they thought.

Darla seemed quite comfortable...

and Gracie dragged her butt across it.

I guess it could be worse. My husband could have dragged his butt across it.
((giggle))

Happy Saturday.

  1. Oh, I've been looking for a braided rug, too. I would've preferred the darker muted shades (more prim) I, too, would keep what arrived. I LOVE braided rugs but with animals and small grandkids..I'm not ready to invest an arm and leg to get one! Enjoy it!

  2. looks nothing like the color you picked..but it does have that americana feel which I know you love..and now its been christened with your dogs butt..so you have to keep it.;)

  3. ...Are you sure they sent you what you ordered? That is such a huge difference between what is pictured and what you received. I would be of no help here because honestly, I love 'em both. The first one I love for the earthy, rich colors but I love the Americana feel to the one you received. Very country. What is their return policy for something like this?

...Gracie's form of officially christening *wink* the new rug is exactly like something that would happen here. *sigh*giggle* ;o)

...Hope this finds you enjoying a lovely eve'!

    ...Blessings :o)

  4. I agree, Teri. A good quality wool blend braided rug is very expensive. This one I bought is quite frankly cheaply made. It moves and bunches. Oh well... You know the ol' saying, "You get what you pay for." I sure did. ;> )

The colors are really nice if you're looking for a light braided rug that will show lots of dirt. :> ) Heck, I've got two wood stoves! How am I going to keep it clean? Maybe I'll cover it with a blue tarp. ((hee-hee))

It does go with my Americana, country decor. Worse case scenario.. I put it in another room. But I'm still bummed about how waaaaaaay off they were on color. I'm tempted to email them with these photos.

Oh and Darla "christened" it too. What is it with this rug?!!
