My Beadboard Backsplash Project Is Finished...

Well, I still need to caulk the molding joints but heck as far as I'm concerned it's done.

Everything went smoothly until it came to the molding. Man, I had a boatload little trouble with cutting the corner trim. My brain just couldn't wrap around the concept. Yes I know... 45 degree angle, I got it. But I was zipping through and ruining molding like nobody's business. At least I'll have plenty of picture frames to make. **giggle**
Finally my hubs had to step in and take over. Hmpf! I would have gotten it... eventually.

Here's a great lil' tip. To give the corners or ends of your beadboard a finished look, use a wood dowel. I think this is 1/4".
How simple is that? Fits in like a glove too. Once I caulk and touch it up with some paint, it will blend in beautifully.

My next project I'm dying to tackle is to cover my hideous, dated bi-fold doors that hide my washer and dryer.

    It looks WONDERFUL! Did you decide use the glue? nails? screws? I am a lover of beadboard too. Your idea for switching out your bi-folds is a beaut. Speaking of doors I also like how some hang a door on a slider like as in a barn. Your kitchen looks so warm and inviting :)

    Thanks ladies! I really love the way it looks!

    Carmen the countertop is holding up great. I really am pleased even though it has a little texture to it.
    But I wasn't happy when I dribbled latex paint on it and found a haze after wiping it up. I tried everything to remove it but nothing worked. So I want to re-sand and apply another topcoat. Maybe in January.

    Audrey those doors are sooooo cool and I know it will be fairly easy to do too. Yippee!

    Maureen, I couldn't bring myself to use glue so I nailed it on in a few places. Nailing the trim on really anchored it.

    Okay, now that you have finished your kitchen and made it oh so lovely, you can catch a flight out here to Rancho Santa Fe, CA and do the same thing to MY kitchen! Yikes! Yours is SO pretty and mine is SO not...I am absolutely jealous. Of course, I am also absolutely lazy...or I would do it myself. Still, our weather is lovely...and I do have tools....

    Not sure when I'm going to tackle the bi-fold doors.
    With all the medical problems my mama has had, I put off creating. But I've got to get back to sewing so it may not be until after Christmas. (As if I can wait that long!) hee-hee!

    Christine, I used Rustoleum's Cabinet Transformations kit in (glazed) English Cream. It's a fantastic color! Although my lighting makes them look rather yellow. (I need better light bulbs.) If you scroll down the right side of my blog, I have a link about my Countertop and Cabinet Transformations. It was a lot of work, but worth it. :> )

    Pretty awesome looking I must say!!! The dowel trick is a great one. I'll remember that one if I can talk my hubby into doing this as a back splash instead of the tile he's got his mind set on. We'll see. Great job!
