But after our road trip from hell, I was determined to bring it home. Even if it was charred in a fire, missing a leg, and was held together with duct tape it was coming home with me!
If you'd like to read more about our road trip from hell, my sweet Stella describes it to a tee HERE.
So here is the final destination for the old dough box. Since I had to use the small tavern table I had in front of the daybed as part of my new/old coffee table, I figured it would look fine here.
I thought about painting it with milk paint, but I'm still unsure. I would like to try and remove the sheen and leave the exposed maple. Not sure how to do it, but I'll figure something out. I always do.
If there's a will, there's a way.
Happy Monday, everyone!!!

I'll admit I had to go look up what exactly a dough box table was. I thought it was something decorative, but not at all. Fascinating reading about it. Yours looks in pretty fair shape from the photos Karin. I'm sorry poor Gracie didn't enjoy the trip. I don't think its helping that Stella is gloating just a little bit. LOL!

Sand it down and apply a natural maple stain to it. A bit of work, but it will be pretty. OR..sand it down and apply the usual red orange maple stain. Not as pretty. OR..sand down the top and apply new stain to even it out OR just scuff sand it to further distress it to age it more and then take black SCUF-KOTE liquid shoe polish and wipe one and then off...it will stay in the scuffed areas and you have a distressed piece. OR.....leave it alone and accept that it is what it is...not new. Think of all the stories it holds....!
