Oh man Phyllis, I hope you're feeling better and are on the mend. ♥ No matter what the party, Inauguration Day is so very special and I truly love watching it! I get like a little kid when I see the parade's US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum! I swear, I'd wear one of those cool jackets 24/7. ((giggle)) While many in the media made fun of KellyAnne Conley's coat, I loved it. Heck, I would have worn it. Although I wasn't thrilled with either candidate, I will say after hearing his inaugural speech I am cautiously optimistic about our new president. I like that his is not a politician and that he has a strong, grounded, work ethic and has instilled that in his children. Highly commendable. Being a businessman I truly believe he wants to see our country flourish economically for all. Most politicians only want to see themselves flourish. Unlike President Obama, President Trump has an uphill battle. The media/social media are going to throw everything at him, including the kitchen sink. But he's a New Yorker. I know he can handle it. We New Yorkers can be tough when we have to be. ((hee hee)) Finally I want to say how absolutely stunning our First Lady looked at the Inauguration. After reading all the crap about how some designers stated they would never dress our First Lady. That is absolutely shameful. When I heard Ralph Lauren designed that gorgeous blue outfit for her I couldn't be happier. I love his classic style. I could go on... But I won't. ;> ) I will continue to pray for our nation to heal. A lot of divisive damage has been done over many years. We must remember we are Americans first and foremost. United we stand. I know. That was sappy and lame. But it's true. ♥
Hi Karin, I'm feeling better, thanks. Like I said, it was nice to see it unfolding live. I agree, he has an uphill battle. President Trump is entitled to respect due to his office, no matter what people's personal feelings might be. I agree with him that it is time that we prioritize America's issues and needs. His choice of phrasing is perhaps unfortunate at times, when his meaning is good. He deserves a chance and his intention to unify the nation definitely struck a chord in me. Melania looked beautiful. She was the picture of elegance. God bless America.
Well said, Phyllis. Yes, there were a few times I was completely mortified at what came out of his mouth. Then there were times I literally laughed out loud at his blunt statements and agreed with him. He doesn't mince his words that's for sure and I find that rather refreshing. Especially when it comes to politicians and the media. :> )
Hi Karin. I was home sick yesterday, so I was able to watch it live, which was nice. What did you think of his address?
