Is it just me, or does anyone else have impractical furniture they can't part with?
I spent this entire day trying to rearrange some furniture because it has to be done by the weekend. Since I can't bring myself to sell any of my favorite impractical pieces, I keep moving them from room to room.
The particular piece I'm talking about today is my wonderful old church pew. I've had it in every room in this old farmhouse with the exception of the bathroom. (Don't think I wouldn't have tried it in there either if I knew it would fit!)
Yes, I have officially turned into my mama. Sigh.
Sure it's extra seating but most of you know how uncomfortable a church pew is. If my choice is to sit on a big ol' fluffy La-Z-Boy or a vintage, hard oak church pew... I know which one I'm going to plant my butt in when American Pickers is on.
So I moved it into my dining room and I'm pleased with how it looks in there.
But it came with consequences. In the process of moving stuff around I managed to knock over and break not one but TWO vintage glass lamp shades. :> (
Each time my hubs heard the shattered glass, he piped up and said from a distance, "I'm glad I didn't do that!"
She wasn't too thrilled when I broke those shades either but she gave me two paws up with church pew approval.
:> )
Your church pew looks great in your DR... it is beautiful, I can see why you wouldn't want to get rid of it. You'll be happy to know that I have one in my DR, too, and yes... it has been in every room of my house, as well!!
ReplyDeleteI love it -- and have always made accommodations for it with each move we've made, even though it is SOOOOO uncomfortable, and is only a resting spot for my dolls and pillows.... It will move again with us in a couple of months when we downsize -- we have made arrangements for that most impractical piece of furniture to come along with us again. I could never part with it!
I LOOOOOVE it ! I would never be able to part with it ..Sorry about the broken lampshades... the sacrifices we girls make ....lol

Peanut, I've got the garage and the attic occupying boxes and boxes of things that I bought with me from the NY house. I just couldn't part with them.
ReplyDeleteI know where you're coming from sister!
It just takes time and maybe one day we'll get there, but in the meantime enjoy! Your room looks WONDERFUL with the church pew added.
(sorry about your lamp shades)
Hugs, Audrey
((giggle)) I just knew I wasn't alone!! Thanks, ladies!! ♥
ReplyDeleteAudrey, I would have somehow boxed up your entire NY house and brought it with me wherever I went!! :> )

it looks great in there..I have a decons bench that has been upstairs downstairs and on the front porch as well..if your porch is covered..that might be another choice for when you get that tweaking bug again.:)
ReplyDeleteYour church pew is beautiful ~ I won't want to part with it either!

I don't have room for the family furniture that I took when the last elder passed on, so it's in a storage room (climate controlled, of course). I do wish I could make room for it. Our house is a ranch type built in 1969 and while the house is pretty big, the individual rooms are small. What were they thinking? Guess I'll keep on paying storage fees, cause I'm not gonna let it go. You're in good company, gal. Love ya!
ReplyDeleteI love it all Peanut~ So sorry about the lamps! I love your home! I need to move around some things!! I LOVE doing that!! Smiles~ Birdy...
ReplyDeletePeanut love your blog, you really hit home so much. You have a knack for decorating. Love seeing more pics of your home!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, gals!! Heck I knew there had to be more crazies like me out there!! ((giggle))
