I Never Learn...

As I was workin' on my latest crooked nose dollie, I told her about my great adventure findin' the lock on our property.

Her eyes got as big as saucers when I mentioned I've been tryin' to clear out a path to get to it.

When I turned my back to grab some bows for her hair, she was gone!!

Well, I had a sneaky suspicion where she might be...

Man, I have GOT to remember to sew their legs on last. They are just too quick for me.

Happy First Day Of Spring...

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade."
~Charles Dickens

"In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt."
~Margaret Atwood

"Science has never drummed up quite as effective a tranquilizing agent as a sunny spring day."
~W. Earl Hall

"The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day He created Spring."
~Bern William

Top O' The Mornin' To Ya...

"May the raindrops fall lightly on your brow.
May the soft winds freshen your spirit.
May the sunshine brighten your heart
May the burdens of the day rest lightly upon you.
And may God enfold you in the mantle of His love."

"As you slide down the banisters of life may the splinters never point the wrong way."

"A toast to your coffin.
May it be made of 100 year old oak.
And may we plant the tree together, tomorrow."

"May the horns of your cattle always touch heather."

"May you be in heaven 1/2 hour before the devil knows you're dead."

"May your troubles be as few and as far apart as my Grandmother's teeth."

Happy St. Patrick's Day Folks!

Home Is Where The Heart Is...

The next time you go for a walk...

Remember to look up.

A home doesn't necessarily need four walls and a roof.

Life is short. Enjoy nature.

She's Gone...

Well... Almost.
LOOK!!

That lil' tuft of snow is all that's left! With a little luck, we won't see her again until next November.

Then I heard (honkin') music to my ears!!
LOOK!!

The Canada Geese are back!! Welcome home my feathered friends!

Finally... the weather was nice enough to hoist my new historical Pine Tree Flag.
LOOK!!

(Hopefully George can see it from up there too.)

Yeppers, it doesn't take much to make me happy. Have a wonderful weekend folks.

I've Takin' Way Too Much Cold Medicine...

As I lie on the couch in my over the counter cold medication coma; my eyes can't help but wander over to the table where that sweet knitted Americana dollie skirt and hat (that Carol gave me) are.

I'm thinkin' it belonged to one of those dollies who hid the toilet paper roll under her dress. Do you remember those?
But I don't have a lil' dollie like that. So I have to make do with somethin' else.

How can I display this lovely handmade?

Hmmm. I've got an idea...

(I've got a collection of old bottles!)

All aboard the Crazy Train!

At least I'm feelin' much better now!! Well... Maybe not mentally, but physically.
Choo-choo-choo-choo...

I'm Still Kickin'...

As I wallow in my misery from this nasty cold, I was able to muster up some energy and work on my next lil' birdie.

Even though at the moment he and I are the same shade of pale; we'll be back in the pink (er make that red) soon!

I'll keep ya posted...

Tis' The Season...

I wish it were Christmas.

Nope. Tis' the season to get sick. It got me. I went all winter without a sniffle, but today I woke up feelin' like h*ll.

The body aches, watery eyes, post nasal drip with the sore throat and plugged nose that is only on one side. Man, I hate that. Feelin' like ya have to sneeze but you can't. Man, I hate that even more. Sigh.

Hubs did everythin' but wear garlic around his neck when I told him I wasn't feelin' well this mornin'. But I'm sure he'll come home wearin' some. Actually, he may come home in a plastic bubble. He can roll around the house germ free and get his exercise at the same time.

So for now I'll mope my way to the couch, curl up into a ball, have three dogs pile on me (because no matter where I go I can't escape them) and feel sorry for myself.

If you don't hear from me, you know why.

I Hit The Jackpot BIG TIME...

Some of us gals in the group To Dwell In Primitive Thymes had an Easter/Spring Swap.

I was lucky enough to have Carol Roll of Nostalgic Folk Art as my swap partner! Not only is this gal an extremely talented artist, she is just as sweet and I'm blessed to have her as a dear friend.

Okay are ya ready????!!!

Look at all this WONDERFUL stuff!!!!! I was screamin' like a lil' girl!! (Some of you may have heard me)

That vintage salt bag is awesome! (Even my hubs said "That's cool!") Vintage sheet music of the Easter Parade, a sweet knitted dollie skirt and hat in my three favorite colors of red white and blue, the children's book "Our Country's Flag, a delicious Lindt chocolate bar (okay, this won't last long) and Godiva chocolate creme flavored coffee (h*ll I didn't even know they made such I thing, I can't wait to try some!!!), some rusty springs perfect for make-dos, a bottle of Burt's Bees Body Lotion that smells absolutely heavenly and I can't wait to apply it to my lizard skin, 3 bunny cookie cutters, a box of apple dumpling doggie treats for my girls, a wonderful smellin' candle but what's even better it has a lil' battery operated flame on top of it!! (How cute!) Then there is those precious vintage flash cards that spell out my nickname!!!!!Oh how that made me smile!!!! Since we both are owners and lovers of Boston Terriers, she tucked in a newspaper article about a Boston Terrier who saved her owner from an attempted rape (by bitin' him) in her area of Florida. Yet another reason to love this wonderful breed!

FINALLY THERE WAS THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE...

Isn't she gorgeous?????!!!!!! Folks, you have no idea how much this angel has touched my heart!!!! Carol captured the true beauty of nature and faith. Two things very near and dear to my heart. I can't express how much I love her!

I know Carol doesn't have a blog but I hope she's readin' this...
I am so touched by the thought and love you put into each item. Thank you darlin'!

Here Comes Trouble...

The smallest dollies in my collection are my "Trouble Dolls". I love the story behind them.

The Guatemalan Indians tell this old story. They teach that when you have troubles, share them with these dolls.

Before you go to sleep, you remove one from the box and tell it your trouble. One dollie for each problem.

While you're sleepin' the dollies will try to solve your troubles. Since there are only six dolls, you are allowed only six troubles a day.

I know so many folks who are in need of prayers these days. Sickness, job loss, financial problems and hardships are what many are facin' lately.
I continue to diligently pray for those in need.

Heck, talkin' to these dollies can't hurt either!
But six dollies won't cut it. More like a sh*tload of 'em would do.

(Hey, isn't that Dr. Phil on the left??)

Have faith folks! When things got you down... Remember to always look up. ↑
God Bless.

"Thank ya, thank ya very much."

So Long...

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday from a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes to the belly. He was 71.

Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, The California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess of Twinkies, and
Captain Crunch.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin.

The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.

Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers.

He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.

Despite being a little flakey at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they have one in the oven.
He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

If this made you smile for even a brief second, please rise to the occasion and take time to pass it on and share that smile with someone else who may be having a crumby day and kneads a lift.

C'mon now, I know you giggled a lil'.

Reminiscin'...

Man, it seems like yesterday I sat down at my shiny new sewin' machine and started makin' my homely dollies. Homely to most, but not to me. (Well, maybe just a tad homely)

Holy smokes! Its been almost 7 years now!

They all had that wild eyed "deer in the headlights" look.

I may have to stitch one up for ol' time's sake.
But maybe I should make her a lil' pair of sunglasses this time around.
