The Other Day...

I walked outside and found these visitors.

They asked me where the shindig was.
"Who's shindig?" I asked. They responded in unison, "Steve's!"
Dear Lord, now Steve the Chipmunk is throwing parties.

I should have known something was up when I saw that beer keg next to his hole.

Summer Breeze, Makes Me Feel Fine...

Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind.

Here's Steve...

At first I didn't recognize him without the trench coat and sunglasses.

He just finished stuffin' his face with birdseed.

I don't want to type this too loudly...
I have another batch of sunflower plantlets ready to plant.
Shhhh. I don't want Steve to find out.

Chipmunks Can't Be Trusted...

I gave Steve the Chipmunk the benefit of the doubt and planted a bunch of my sunflower plantlets. I assumed he wouldn't bother with them since they had already sprouted. I should have known somethin' was up when I saw him in a trench coat with sunglasses and holdin' that wee chipmunk spade.
Steve is now on my sh*t list.

Now Clarice on the other hand is a sweetheart! And she's my lil' buddy too.

She comes by almost every day for "dinner." It's been about 3 years now.

I really try not to let the wildlife get used to us, but she'll come as close as a foot away from me. She must trust me.
The other mornin' hubs opened the back door and there she was. He yells, "Your buddy is here to see you!" So I went outside to talk to her.

Gettin' back to Steve the Chipmunk... He has absolutely no fear of us!
It's just a matter of time before I see him in the kitchen pourin' himself a cup of coffee.

Wonderin' Where I've Been...

Oh, I'm still here.
Did you happen to hear (in the distance) someone cursin' the heat and humidity?
Yep, that was me.

This is out my kitchen window... In the shade.

I can't help but think back to when we first moved to this old farmhouse in the countryside. I distinctly remember sayin' to my hubs, "Don't you think we should get central a/c??"
He responded, "Oh Chickie, out here in the country there is always a cool breeze. There's absolutely no need for a/c."
Heck, I should have known somethin' was up when I saw his nose growin' as he answered me.

Unfortunately, I don't have a kiddie pool to cool off in. BUT we do have a bird bath. Hmmmm.
Move over birdies...

YaY! We've Got Four Baby Robins...

Here's Groucho and Harpo.
Chico and Zeppo are tucked down in the nest.

Groucho is workin' on growin' his mustache and unfortunately I had to take away Harpo's horn. (He kept me up all night.)

So no mowin' or weedin' until they fly away.
