Happy Wednesday!!
It's been absolutely insane, but I haven't smiled this much in a very long time.
With a face like this, how could I not!
Saying Stella is a complete handful is an understatement. For some reason I don't remember our Darla being this wild as a pup.
But then again I'm older, my memory isn't so good and I occasionally wear my bra and wears on the outside of my clothes. ((giggle))
Yesterday, was one week Stella has been with us. So we decided to put her and Gracie together in the living room.
Gracie on the couch, Stella on the floor. I had on a black and white striped ref shirt and wore a whistle.
Stella immediately went for her thinking they would both have a ball and play together. Oh but Gracie had other plans. The fur stood up on the back of her neck as she belted out a snarly "get the h*ll outta my space" bark. It was then followed up with lots of growling and more barking.
It didn't phase Stella in the least. She wanted to play. She ran back in front of the couch when all of the sudden she barked! Her first bark!! We all stood there like deer in headlights. Even Stella had a look of "What the h*ll was that??!!"
Needless to say, with her new found voice she literally barked herself dry to where she started to gag. Stella didn't get to play with Gracie and Gracie still hates her. We tried it again today. A repeat performance of yesterday.
So are things any better? Not really. I guess it's just going to take time. A very l-o-n-g time. Man these are the days I wished the Dog Whisperer was our neighbor.
But on a happier note, I was able to finish three pieces I'd been working on prior to Stella's arrival. YIPPEE!!
Two will be on TDIPT Mercantile for Feb 1st and the third will be listed on my selling site!!
Happy Sunday!!
:> )
A little too dramatic?
((giggle))
So what if my "freedom" yesterday was grocery shopping. I couldn't wait to go!! (Man, I never thought in my wildest dreams I would ever type those words.)
I do absolutely adore my Stella, but I haven't left the house in 6 days. I've been cooped up in one room, my brain is fried from lack of sleep and my attack puppy battle wounds are severe. She has chomped, chewed, scratched and gnawed me from head to toe. I needed to get away.
So I was able to finally brush my pillow head hair and throw on a little makeup.
I thought about painting blue stripes down my face, but I figured I'd get funny looks as I strolled down the aisles.
I did have quite the spring in my step as I shopped. Muzak was playing all 80's songs. I couldn't be happier! I sang along to Foreigner's "Urgent" as I reached for that 1/2 gallon of ice cream. Hey after the week I've had, it was a necessity. Right up there with butt wipe.
If they had played "Billie Jean" I would have moon walked. Yes, I do know how and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
But as I went through the checkout I couldn't help but think about my little alien head and smile. I was gone for only an hour and I missed her terribly.
I couldn't wait to get home and give her puppy kisses.
♥
Happy Friday, everyone!!!

That sums it up for me.
Stella is still dying to get at Gracie. Gracie still has the look of fear on her furry face like the victims in all those lame 70's horror movies.
Needless to say, she isn't coming around.
I thought about a baby gate. But with Stella's tiny, gnarly Preditor teeth; that would be a waste of money. She'd chew through it like a Twizzler.
So like Ahhhnold, I needed to bring out the big guns.
That I did. I now have 3 foot critter wire fencing in the doorways. It's chew proof and the gaps are tiny enough to where she can't shimmy through. So what if my home looks like a petty zoo. I'm trying to keep our once quiet and serene home from turning into an Animal Planet reality television show.
Well. I've got to go. Stella has awoke from her slumber.
I've gotten very proficient at typing with one hand as she chews on the other. Multi-tasking.
Happy Thursday!
If I drank or took drugs, now would be a really good time to do so.
Man, I forgot what it's like to have a puppy in the house. Our lives have been turned upside down but hubs and I have huge smiles on our face! Us ---> :> ) 8> )
Gracie is totally traumatized and feels betrayed. She has nicknamed us Judas #1 and Judas #2. I'm guessing I'm #2.
Little Stella has no boundaries and bolts right for her. Then poor Gracie runs in terror. I've been keeping them separated for now.
Stella seems to have forgotten where her pee-pee/poopie towel is. Sigh.
Since she's so tiny, I've been staying on the couch in case she has to go. Unfortunately for me she did when I was sound asleep. (Of course)
I awoke to the toxic stench of her pile of "presents" on the floor and a tiny skid mark on my pillow case. I still can't figure that one out. Unless she's a trapeze artist for Cirque du Soleil.
For the record, I am convinced Puppy Chow should be banned from the planet. Holy crap!!!
Sorry my posts are few and far between. But the only way I get time to type now is when she's like this:
Happy Tuesday all!! (It is Tuesday, right??)
:> )
It has been a wild ride here today at the Countryfolk homestead!!
Not only is she worn out...
I am too!
If you want to know how the day went, take a peek at Stella's blog. The link is below.
I am too exhausted to type, but she wasn't.
Thru Stella's Eyes.
Happy Saturday!!

It's Thursday already?!
Holy smokes!!! Between trying to create, clean, puppy proof and load up with firewood; I've completely lost track of time.
Then I had to run to the pet store. What a mistake that was. There are a gazillion different kinds of dog food!
I know the importance of quality dog food so I'm a label reader. But I also have an attention span "problem." Let's just say I have none. So it was a bit overwhelming.
I ended up getting Orijen. They are a company out of Canada. From what I read, they sound like a responsible company.
I do know I will have to slowly introduce the food to Stella. Otherwise I'll need to wear a hooded rain slicker and a clothespin on my nose.
"Thar she blows!!!"
I also grabbed a few chew toys for her. Hopefully they will keep her occupied. But I know that's wishful thinking.
Only a few days of sanity are left. Then our quiet home will be turned upside down with puppy lunacy. I hope Gracie handles it all. I don't think she'll be aggressive but she's going to be freaked out. We're hoping she will associate the visual similarities of Stella with her beloved sister she lost in September.
Okay. I'll be back over the weekend with Stella photos! YIPPEE!!!
Happy Thursday, everyone!!
:> )
Since my new human mommy is too busy getting ready for my arrival and isn't paying attention to her blog, I was able to get on the breeder lady's computer and hack in again!!! ((giggle))
C'mere. I've got something to show you. Click on the link below...
Thru Stella's Eyes
Shhhh. It'll be our little secret.
I was thinking about the very first car I bought. I was 17 and my daddy told me whatever I saved, he would match it. I'm guessing he could have bought me my first used car but he wanted to teach me the importance of having to work for things and that nothing gets handed to you.
At the time I wasn't too thrilled learning THAT particular lesson of life. But I am forever grateful for how he taught. ♥
So I scraped up 250 bucks and he matched it. I searched and searched the local Penny Saver looking for a car I could buy for a whopping 500 bucks.
Well, I found one.
It was a 1973 Ford Pinto. Unlike the one in this photo, mine was white with groovy, orange interior AND matching shag carpeting.
The '73 Pinto was also the model that if rear ended, it could explode. If daddy had known about that, I'm pretty he would have talked me out of that one.
When I got it home, I washed it inside and out. Losing a bit of the side panel due to all the rust, but I didn't care. It was my car. I even added orange pin-striping down the sides (which also held some of the rust in place) and hung up a rainbow air freshener on the rear view mirror. For the record, that d*mn rust bucket started every single time. Even outside in the dead of winter, when my daddy's brand new Chevette that sat in the garage wouldn't.
After working even harder, I upgraded to a Ford Escort. But I will always remember my little White Pinto with the groovy orange interior.
What was your first vehicle?? Inquiring minds want to know...
Happy Friday, everyone!!
:> )
I love it when I do a home project and have it completed before my hubs gets home from work. It's always fun to see if he notices it.
Have I mentioned he thinks I'm nuts?
((giggle))
I took everything off the walls, spackled nails holes, painted TWO coats on the walls and hung everything back up all before he walked through the door.
My guess was he wouldn't notice and sure enough... Yep, I know him better than he knows himself.
But I can't be too hard on him because my color choice wasn't drastic. I just wanted to lighten it up a bit.
Hmmm... I wonder if he will ever notice? I think I know the answer to that.
Unless of course he reads this blog post.
"Hi Sweetheart!! Guess what I did today??"
((giggle))
Happy Tuesday evening, all!!
:> )
paint some walls!!!
Yep. Every January I look around this old farmhouse and get antsy for a new look. What's the quickest and least expensive way to do that??
Say it with me... "Paint some walls!"
I've been staring down our den. I'm even thinking about painting over my American flag walls. **GASP** Yes, it's true. I have my reasons, but won't get into it. I still can't bring myself to it just yet though. So until then, I can lighten up the room by painting the walls on the opposite side of the room.
The barn siding on the lower half will stay, but I want to brighten up the top half. Martha Stewart paint at the Home Depot has an awesome color called "Burlap." I used her "Graham Cracker Crust" in out keeping room and LOVE the color.
Knowing Martha, (well, not personally) I don't think I'll be disappointed in the color. I just need to hoof it over to HD and grab me some.
I'd better do it before Stella's arrival. I won't be doing much after that except for pee pee/poo duty.
Happy Monday, everyone!
:> )
doing something C-R-A-Z-Y.
No I'm not thinking about growing a full beard and mustache. Although... Nah.
As much as I LOVE the look of all the original pine floorboards in our living and keeping room, I'm thinking about covering them. I know, crazy right?! Why would I cover original 1800's floorboards?!
Man oh man, I can't stand how horribly cold they are in the winter. I wear so many pairs of socks, my feet look like Olive Oyl's.
Then there's the boards that are starting to splinter. Try stepping on one of those babies. Even with fourteen pairs of socks on, you still feel it.
Some of the gaps between the boards are so wide, this morning I saw a spider wave at me from the basement. Not cool.
So what are my choices?? Well when we moved into this old farmhouse, all the rooms were carpeted. Sorry, I'd rather deal with Olive Oyl feet than wall to wall carpeting. It's not my thing.
We could have all beautiful hardwood flooring installed. As gorgeous as it would be, on the practicality scale of 1 to 10... It's a -2 in the Countryfolk Homestead.
Why you ask??
Soon there will be a dog AND a puppy running around. 2 dogs = 8 paws = 34 tiny toenails. Dewclaws included.
The wood stove. Have you ever dropped a large piece of firewood on a wood floor? I have. Ummm. Trust me, it ain't pretty.
Next, is my hubs. Men. Need I say more?
Finally, there's me. Quite frankly, I'm probably the worst out of them all. I'm always painting something. Dropping something. Staining something. Dropping something. Dropping something and dropping something. Not to mention, I slide and change the furniture as often as I change my underwear. Yes, that does mean quite often. ((giggle))
So I'm thinking laminate flooring. Now don't gasp in horror. They make beautiful laminate flooring these days and it can withstand everything I've listed above and then some. We have Pergo in our kitchen and I love it!
Take a peek at some of these pretties I found online.
Chateau by Mannington
Country Rustic Hickory by Quickstep
Sylvia" by Evoke
Pine Planks by Dupont
Natural Hickory by Dupont
Pergo
Since I know Pergo flooring is very doggy friendly, I'll probably take a stroll through Lowes and Home Depot to see what's out there.
But for now, I'll have to invest in a pair of Mukluks.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Remember to smile.

cute all over??!!
STELLA!!!
You thought I was going for the ol' newspaper joke.
Did you guys think I could go all week without mentioning her? You know me better than that. ((giggle))
Twenty+ days and counting.
(As I impatiently stand with my arms folded, tapping my foot... Waiting.)
*Tap*Tap*Tap*
Happy Thursday!!

I've never been one for new year's resolutions.
