More Than A Feelin'...

Man, I've been feelin' lower than a mole's belly button on diggin' day.

Photobucket

After dinner on Sunday, I started to show signs of what we thought was food poisonin'. But when hubs didn't get sick, we realized the chicken I made wasn't tryin' to get his final revenge.

I had horrible waves of nausea, body aches, a massive headache, stomach pain and I wore a path in the floor from the couch to the bathroom. I couldn't fathom eatin' a thing so poor hubs has been makin' himself grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner these past few days as I lay there like a corpse with three dogs piled on me.

I guess there is some kind of stomach/intestinal flu goin' around. I'm convinced I have the words "Contaminate Me" stamped across my forehead because I get every kind of stomach bug there is.

What's even worse is I have a dentist appointment this afternoon. Sigh. So I'd better jump in the shower and take care of these hairy tarantula legs.

All Work And No Play...

Makes Santa a dull boy.

What does Santa do to get away from the monotony of the North Pole?

He plays in a pile of leaves neked as a jaybird. I bet that Santa suit can be quite restrictin'.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend playin' in leaves without a stitch on though. But come to think of it, I reckon it could be quite liberatin'.

Nah, I can't imagine gettin' a rash or a bug bite where the sun don't shine.

I'd better get him out of there and ready for the November Humble Arts.

I'll keep ya posted...

Definition Of A Jerk...

After seeing where our American flag is in this photo, I would prefer to call Bill Ayers something else.
But there is no need to waste my time typing about this "American" because a picture is worth a thousand words.

If I could, I would love to ask him one question. "If this country is so bad, why are you still here?"
Like my daddy used to say, "Either sh*t or get off the pot."

A very simple question, right? My guess is he wants the best of both worlds. Where else could he live in a lovely home, eat good food, have top notch medical treatment, wear quality clothing, sell his books, travel the country at his own free will, have a great paying job, live a prosperous life AND be allowed to spew and act out his violent radical anti-American behavior?

So while he's stepping all over our American flag, he'd best remember this... Many other countries would have let the air out of him a long time ago.

Be very thankful Mr. Ayers...

Photographs And Memories...

Make that "colored pictures and memories."

I must thank my mama for bein' a packrat. She has saved so much stuff since I was a young'un. I am so grateful!

I was goin' through our closet and came upon a box filled with cards made when I had my emergency appendectomy surgery back in 1970. I think many of ya remember the story about how my appendix almost ruptured when our family was at my uncle's weddin'.

I kept tellin' mama my belly hurt. She didn't believe me and kept sayin' "Go do the polka with your cousin Tracy." Daddy ended up rushin' me to the E.R. To this day, that line from my mama is also a standard joke whenever anyone tells me they're ill. I tell them to "Go do the polka with your cousin Tracy." :> )

I ended up havin' to spend my 7th birthday in the hospital. While in there, I was given handmade get well and birthday cards from all my class mates.

Today, I sat there readin' each card with the same (but much older) smile on my face. They are precious!! So I thought I would share a few with ya.

Ooohh... Looks like I found me a birthday cake!
Made by: Janice.

Here I am standin' next to a life size birthday cake. Man, can you imagine?!
This one wasn't signed.

Here I'm gettin' ready to be carted off on a stretcher. But at least I'm still smilin'.
Made by: Sandra.

I'm layin' in my hospital bed. Check out that Dippity-do hairdo.
Made by: Marjorie.

This one is my favorite. Even though I was sicker than heck, I was STILL able to be a Super Heroine. Up, up and away!!!
(I wonder who I knocked out?)
Made by: Tegid.

All you folks with wee ones remember to hang on to all their childhood art. They don't know it now, but they will be forever grateful.

Oh, You're My Best Friend...

I've been doin' cartwheels since we brought "her" home from the hardware store yesterday!

I know... It doesn't take much to make me happy. But havin' this new rake makes my life so much easier! She's huge!

We do have a leaf blower, but that's hub's toy. I think he like to pretend he's Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator when he's usin' it.

I was wonderin' why he kept runnin' and hidin' from one pile of leaves to another in camouflage. Sometimes he'd even tuck and tumble with it still in his hands. I guess the only way to kill the creature is with a leaf blower.

But do ya really want to know what I love most about my new best friend???!!!
LOOK!!!!

Yeeeee-hawwwwwwwwwwww!!

Is He Expectin'...

By the looks of my hub's belly, you would think he was.

But before ya call The National Enquirer, look real close...

See those lil' paws stickin' out?

Our poor lil' Grace has been quite sick since she developed a severe allergy to her dog food this week. The vet said some dogs between the ages of 2 and 3 develop them.

When she's feelin' like heck, she likes to curl up next to my hub's belly and sleep.

I can't help but laugh when I see these two together. Prior to gettin' her, he swore our next dog would be a gigantic Irish Wolfhound. A real manly dog! One he could play and wrestle with.

Instead he has a wee Chihuahua who has him wrapped around her tiny paw. I'm sooo tempted to get him leopard print shoes with a matchin' tote to carry her in.

Thankfully, she is on the road to recovery.

These past 72 hours I have spent a small fortune on canned and dry dog food. I literally have 5 new brands of dry food and 2 of canned and she sniffs it, turns her snout up and walks away.

But if she hears me open a bag of Kettle Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper Potato Chips, *poof* she appears out of nowhere like David Copperfield in a Vegas act; just waitin' for me to drop one. Then *poof* she mysteriously disappears again.

Oh and for the record, I did not take her to the vet, hubs did. I still have the battle scars from her last visit.

Whoever Coined the Phrase...

"Try to grow old gracefully", must have been all of 25 years old, because its next to impossible to do.

Since it has sunk in that I'm another year older, I find myself lookin' in the mirror more at my "imperfections." (That's nice talk for wrinkles, creases and crevices) I'm startin' to have a slight resemblance to Duke from the Beverly Hillbillies. But I'm thinkin' my eyes are a lil' more droopier than his.

Ya know, when I was young my skin was as slick as the Exxon Valdez. As a teen, I bought Stridex Pads by the case. Now I practically do a swan dive in my Oil of Olay tryin' to keep my skin hydrated, yet I see my pores coughin' dust. I drink gallons and gallons of water on a daily basis and the only difference I've noticed is I'm goin' through more toilet paper.

And what's with these occasional break outs at my age? I thought I was over that years ago. All I know is I'm sportin' me a pitcher's mound on my left cheek. I'm waitin' for Mike Mussina to show up lookin' to strike out some players on my face.

On top of all this I get to look forward to menopause?! Oh YaY, I can hardly wait! Tack on ragin' hormones, sleepless nights and hot flashes??!! Heck, I may as well lay my wrinkly ol' self flat out in the middle of State Route 12B and wait for a Wal*Mart semi to get it over with.

Nah... Instead I'll just cannonball into a vat of olive oil.

Been Decoratin' For Halloween...

I placed this lil' sweetheart made by sweet Sherrie of Symple Tymes in a wooden pumpkin. Isn't she adorable?

This cute lil' scarecrow is from sweet Joee of Cart Before the Horse.

Photobucket

I made a band to place around my witch's hat that reads, "The Witch Is In." My hubs deemed it appropriate. Hmmm... He'll be gettin' eye of newt for dinner.

Here's my wonderful pumpkin gal from dear Patty of Dogpatch Primitives and an awesome owl from dear Stace of Tattered 'n Torn Prims. Brenda, my dear friend of many, many years made me the ceramic pumpkin.

I just love this witch. She's a gal after my own heart. Her lil' buck teeth resemble mine before the braces. Also, I wore similar hoop earrins' back in the 80's. The only difference was I had a key hangin' off one. Remember that look?
" "No, my first name ain't baby. Its Janet... Ms. Jackson if you're nasty."

Here's my all-time favorite pumpkin dude in his boot from my favorite goober, Cookie of Curds-and-Whey.

I figured my Muddy Britches granny doll wanted to dress up for Halloween too.

Now its off to work on the outside of the house...

It's October 1st...

That means The Humble Arts has come together again!
