It is so worth having permanently painted red ankles...

because I've got my red doors!! Yippee!!
Photobucket

I used Rustoleum Heritage Red spray paint in a satin finish. (Primed everything first) It's a wonderful shade of red. (It looks bright in this photo, but it's not)
Photobucket

When it comes to Rustoleum spray paint I am a huge fan. They make a great product. Heck they must, they've been around since the early 1900s.

Insane...

in·sane/inˈsān/
Adjective:
1. In a state of mind that prevents normal perception, behavior, or social interaction; seriously mentally ill.
2.(of an action or quality) Characterized or caused by madness.
Synonyms: mad - crazy - demented - lunatic

This is what my hubs refers to me as when I get an idea in my head and I run with it. He's also been known to refer to me as the synonyms listed above.
Maybe he's right. I spent these last 24 hours spray painting our front doors red. I also spray painted my ankles, socks and sneakers red. But those weren't intentional.

Photobucket

Here's the funny part. He tells me I'm insane? This coming from a man who eats everything with a spoon. Take a gander at the way he pounced on my Lemon Pound Cake I baked in between coats.
He gnawed on it like a Neanderthal.

Photobucket

May I remind everyone of his pumpkin pie eating habits. Yep... and I'm the insane one.

More door photos tomorrow.

"On June 6, 1944...

156,000 allied troops crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of northern France where they began a drive through Europe that would bring Adolf Hitler and his Third Reich to its knees.
They came ashore on beaches called Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword, where the brutal assault resulted in 10,000 Allied casualties — 6,600 of them Americans. An estimated 2,500 Allied troops died."

A woman's work is never done...

I've always wanted a laundry room. I guess I thought it would make doing laundry more enjoyable.
Doesn't this room make you want to do 14 loads of whites?
Photobucket

These doors are a great idea.
Photobucket

You know how I love beadboard.
Photobucket

This room is a little too contemporary for me but oooooh, those pretty sparkly reds remind me of Dorothy's scoots. Maybe if I click my heels and say, "There's no place like home
with a new red washer and dryer. There's no place like home with a new red washer and dryer." They will appear.

Nothing.

D*mn.

Photobucket

This one is so pretty.
Photobucket

Instead of a laundry room I have a laundry cubbyhole with my washer and dryer tucked behind doors.
Photobucket
Truth be told, I am extremely grateful my laundry is on the first floor and not in the basement. Have you ever been down in the basement of a home built in the 1800's?? **shudder**
I was expecting to find the Crypt Keeper sitting there when we first looked at the place.

"Hello..."

Photobucket

My candlestick phone arrived yesterday!! YaY!!

Man, I tore into that box like a monkey on a cupcake. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this Crosley telephone. It's very well made. It has some weight to it too. I'd say a good 3 lbs.
After I hooked it up, I impatiently waited for someone to call so I could test it out. Sure I could have called someone and told them to call me back. But that would have taken the fun out of it. So I waited... and waited. Finally! ***Ring***Ring****

It even has the old fashioned ring to it. I ran over and answered, "Hello."

It was Steve the Chipmunk.

All this time I thought Bob the Woodchuck...

lived under our old brooder house. Apparently "Bob" is really "Bobbie" because I caught her two lil' young'uns having a picnic inside my rustic barn wood flower box. They were chowing down on my lovely petunias I planted last week.

Photobucket

Chewed 'em down to nubs. The only thing missing was the red and white check tablecloth.
Who knew woodchucks could climb???

Photobucket

As soon as they saw me walk towards them, they each did a swan dive right into the hole in the ground below. (Very similar to a Bugs Bunny move I saw once, minus the orchestrated music.)

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. But one had an iPhone on him. I'm pretty sure he snapped a pic of my reaction to what they had done. Which is probably why I heard faint giggling as I walked back to the house.

What Does a Red Door Mean?

Photobucket

A red door means “welcome” in an old early American tradition.

Photobucket

If a family had a red front door, tired travelers traveling by horse and buggy would know that the home was a welcoming place to rest.

Photobucket

They would be able to spend the night there.

Photobucket

I decided I'm going to paint our front door red... again. (I painted it red when we first moved in, but painted it black about 5 years ago.) I'm even going to paint the storm door red too. I just need to find the perfect shade.
