As the late great Bob used to say...

"It's a happy little accident."

Late last night as I was dismantling the massive round dining table and trying to figure out where in the heck am I going to store it, I had a happy little accident.
(Okay. That didn't sound right)

At first I was freaking out because the table legs only came apart in two sections. There was no way I could take them completely apart because they were most likely glued biscuit joints. I was staring at what looked like two triangular walkers. ((giggle))

As I was making room in our tiny "dining room" to drag out the massive table top, I placed the two leg sections together in the center of the room.

 photo sqtable1_zpscwmsk2rn.jpg

THAT'S IT!!! All I need is to make a table top and I have the perfect 3 foot square table for the room.

 photo barnwood_zpslzigieme.jpg

Heck, I've squirreled away some beautiful old barn wood doors that would make a beautiful table top!
I proudly wear my "I am a barn wood hoarder" badge.

 photo sqtable2_zpsaij91dlc.jpg

As you can see, Bob is thrilled!

You thought I was talking about Bob Ross, didn't you?
Nope. Bob the Ghost.

Happy Saturday, all.

If I could do a cartwheel...

I would do it in my kitchen with all this room we have now!!!

But I never could. So I'll just stand in one spot, wave my arms wildly while jumping up and down.

LOVE the smaller table in here. Hubs does, too!

Man, it is truly amazing how the simplest of things in life can make one happy and content.

Happy Friday, all.

Be amazed. Find a simple thing in your life to make you happy and content.

Uh oh. I just had a wicked A.D.D. moment...

As I was sitting at the kitchen table working on my Early Work Mercantile offering I thought, "Do we really need this gigantic round dining table in the kitchen??"
Between the new wood stove, dog beds and large dining room set, I'm constantly having to maneuver around everything. It's ridiculous.

Since my mom passed away, I no longer have big family holiday gatherings. I no longer need to feed a small army. It's basically my sweet hubs and I.

So I got to thinking...
As much as I love my "dining room" (American flag walls) we NEVER use it. The old ladder back dining room set I have in there was my mother's.
I love the set but quite frankly the chairs are not the most comfortable. Back in the old days folks were much skinnier and tinier than we are now. ((giggle))

Also, I am never giving up any of my old Windsor chairs. No way. No how.
So I dropped everything I was working on and started dragging tables and chairs around.

The table is only 36" x 42" compared to the 60" round I have in the kitchen.

Did you spot blurry, little "Twinkle Toes?"

I think it looks pretty darn good. So much more room, too! YaY!!! The table legs are bit on the chunky side, but they're turned and so are the Windsor legs. It'll do. Maybe I need to take a peek on Craigslist for old dining tables. Shhhh... No one (meaning my sweet hubs) needs to know that.

Hmmm... Not sure where the heck I'm going to put the round table though. I certainly can't take it apart myself. For now I'll cram it in the "dining room" and try not to notice it.

Lord only knows how my sweet hubs is going to react when he walks through the door later today and sees this one!

I'd better grab a defibrillator...

What's cookin' in the Countryfolk kitchen???

Oooooh, I can't spill the beans just yet. But here's a sneak peek at what I'm working on...

((giggle)) Sorry, that's as clear as it's going to get for now.

Don't forget the first of November we kick off our Early Work Mercantile "A Log Cabin Christmas" for the whole month!

Okay. Back to work!

Happy Thursday, all!!!

It's snowing! What perfect timing to create whimsical Christmas folk art!!

Outside. Gloomy snow showers.

But inside...

 photo furrybums1_zpsw2baosvq.jpg

Toasty warm, four legged, furry little bums.

That is until the FedEx guy dropped off a "certain box" and a "certain someone" got a whiff.

"Well, what the heck are you waiting for??!!
OPEN IT for cryin' out loud!!"

Two Thanksgiving offerings on Countryfolk Keepsakes...

Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday of mine.
Sadly, we seem to jump from Halloween right into Christmas and Thanksgiving is somewhat forgotten.

But not at the ol' Countryfolk homestead.

Here's my Folk Art Turkey and Give Thanks...

We took a drive this afternoon...

So I had to use my sweet hubs phone.

A drive like this makes you forget all about the craziness going on in the country and cures all your ills.

I highly recommend one.

Happy Sunday, all.

Are you following the presidental election?

Do you need a good belly laugh??
If you know about "Bad Lip Reading" (overdubbing) videos, you know what to expect.

If you don't, no matter what your political view, you will definitely crack a smile.

Enjoy the silliness.

Watch it in full screen mode, too.

As I was sipping my coffee at the kitchen table on this beautiful sunny morning......

I witnessed an "eclipse!" The sun streaming in my kitchen window was completely blocked for a few seconds! It scared the bejeebers out of me!
As I jumped up and looked out the window, I saw this...

 photo balloon_zpsrmk3gaj5.jpg

I know why folks choose to fly around in a hot air balloon around these parts.
The exact same reason why we bought property here.

Views out our windows.
I snapped these yesterday.

Happy Tuesday, all.
Remember to go outside and enjoy nature's beauty around you.
It's there. You just have to notice it.

I'm at it again...

Besides the kitchen (heart of the home) being my favorite room in this old farmhouse, our Keeping Room is my second favorite space.

Because the room is small, has absolutely no wall space and a hearth and doorway threshold that takes up a lot of floor space, I have found it difficult to arrange what little furniture we have in there, to where it has the proper flow and feels cozy, too.

I swear I have wrestled the plaid settee everywhere possible expect for one spot. Here's the one spot.
It definitely feels more open.

 photo keepg_zpsokirvvlu.jpg

I decided to swapped out the small tavern coffee table for an even smaller primitive stool.

Since this is our Founding Fathers room, I was going to paint the colonial 13 circle of stars on top of it. But I already did that on the fire board surround behind the wood stove.

 photo keepg1_zpsvijtfw46.jpg

Then it hit me. I could decoupage The 1782 Great Seal of the United States on it. So I did just that.
Although I'm not happy with how I messed up the antiquing with the Mod Podge stuff. Oh well... Doo doo happens.

It still looks cool.

 photo keepg2_zpsp80dtogq.jpg

I do believe Stella is pleased with the new arrangement.

 photo keepg3_zpsvkcspqxt.jpg

So now I wait for my sweet hubs to come home to see if he notices this one. He already thinks I'm loony with all the crazy things I do around the old homestead (while he's at work) anyway, so why not add another one to the loony pile.

I'm pretty sure he will notice. I'm also pretty sure he'll grab the big butterfly net.

But he's gotta catch me first.

Happy Monday, everyone.

Too cute not to share...

As soon as I removed the cast iron pot I placed there, little Gracie made her move...

I have a feeling out of all of us, she's the happiest with the new hearth.

I'll need a bottle of Advil...

But we got 'r done!! Yippee!!

 photo woods2_zpsxsrna8gm.jpg

We moved the new wood stove and replaced the old hearth with the new one. It looks better than I expected! Woo hoo!!

Actually, it went quite smoothly. Even my sweet hubs was shocked.
I had to laugh. He tells me, "You're still a strong chick!" I'm impressed!"

Thanks, sweetheart. Although "You're as beautiful as the first day we met" would have been much nicer. But hey at my age, I'll take what I can get. ((giggle))

 photo woods1_zpsqun6diax.jpg

I absolutely LOVE the look of old copper behind the wood stove in this next photo.
Now I've got this idea in my head. I must find me some copper sheets.
But after pricing them, over 700 bucks for two sheets (holy crap) I may have to stick with the ugly painted fire board we have on the walls for now.

 photo coppersurround1_zpszuv58e7o.jpg

Here's a few more photos of copper surrounds...

 photo coppersurround2_zps8j1aaamn.jpg

 photo coppersurround3_zpsaryczb6t.jpg

Okay, that is it for today. Time for me to go wrestle a bear. ((hee hee))
Wishing everyone a terrific weekend!!
