Peri said...: History is often re-written by persons who, for whatever reason, believe that the information which has been recorded in the past needs to be re-examined in the light of a more modern culture. In our culture this has lead in some cases to disrespect and hatred of persons and locales which once were venerated. This man was indeed amazing and he is rarely granted recognition for his accomplishments. Let us hope that when the next re-vision of history is done in America the truth will not be distorted by political agendas or by individuals who carry their own social agendas but by persons who research documentation and accurately report what is states-not what their opinions are. American history is very important and should be studied and taught to children and persons who wish to become citizens by individuals not by school systems which may be charged with governmentally directed requirements for curricula.
