"Cherish, therefore,

the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. Do not be too severe upon their errors, but reclaim them by enlightening them. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves." ~Thomas Jefferson - Letter to Edward Carrington, January 16, 1787

Pay attention.
Educate.
Teach.
If you don't, who will?

I so looked forward to your post today with all that is going on in DC. As usual, you didn't disappoint :)
The division among our politicians is so damaging. I keep praying for our country.

Nice post. It is interesting that the reclamation needed is primarily on those who have indeed become wolves which snap at one another over the spoils of the hunt..the people might now be considered as the collateral damage of that hunt! It is disheartening that it is Congress which needs enlightening because their primary care is the personal position they each hold and not whether the people are represented, but that the government is in control of the lives of the people. I imagine Mr Jefferson would recommend another revolution.

Thanks, gals.

The majority of you know how I feel. I don't post much political stuff anymore because if my fellow Americans don't understand what's happening to our country by now, sadly they never will. But sometimes I just can't help myself. ;> )

The "divide and conquer" method is working. Keep 'em all arguing and fighting. Cause chaos. Instill fear. Works every time.
In all my years, I've never seen such division among people. Makes me sad for my country.

Peri, my guess is you're correct about Jefferson.
