Our Greatest American Heroes...

Today, we offically celebrate the birth of two great Americans who truly loved this country.

Now, sadly most politicians only concerns are about control, power and greed. They can't compare to our foundin' forefathers nor should they attempt to.

I see our country headin' down a dark path away from the beliefs this great nation was founded on.

Our House and Senate voted in a bill within a 24 hour period and over 1000 pages, a 787 billion dollar economic "stimulus" package and no one read it?
You've got to be sh*ttin' me.

I have a feelin' Presidents Washington and Lincoln (along with other great American heroes) are rollin' over in their graves in disbelief right about now.

She Is Woman...

Hear her roar! Make that hear her curse after prickin' her finger because she misplaced her thimble.

Tell Your Loved Ones How Much You Love Them...

for they can be taken from you with a blink of an eye.

If you pray, please lift the families up in prayer who have lost their family members on Flight 3407.
Also pray for the families who live in that area, for the volunteer firemen, police and emergency crews. Such a tragedy for all involved. Their lives are forever changed.

A Balmy 45 Degrees...

Woo-hoo!!! I'm happier than a fat tick on a skinny dog because it finally warmed up! Sure, its a lil' gloomy and it may not be toasty to some of you folks but for us, its a heatwave!

It will take some time for all this snow to melt but heck, its a start! So I went for a walk today...

As I walk along, I like to leave friendly messages in the snow for others who travel this path.

They're Baaaaaack...

I had a few customers ask if I was plannin' on makin' more of my Firewood Folks©.

Heck, I didn't realize its been that long since I made one, but it has.

So I got out the ol' axe and started choppin' away.

At the moment she's bald, neked and obviously not very modest.

This great American patriotic gal is known for stitchin' up somethin' usin' my three favorite colors and it's near and dear to my heart. ♥

I've Got A Hand For You...

For those of you who are a lil' unsure on how to make dollie hands, I thought I would share my tutorial with you.

First, trace out your doll arm and mitten style hand then stitch.

Next, turn the arm right side out. Lightly pencil 4 lines where the thumb and fingers would be. I do this on both sides so they will line up nicely when hand stitchin'.

Lightly stuff with fiberfill to about the wrist.

Take your threaded long doll needle, go inside and up through the openin' of the doll arm and come out at the base of the thumb. Doin' this will hide your knotted thread.

Continue stitchin' all four lines until fingers are formed. Tie off thread.

Finish stuffin' the doll arm as usual. You can also do this on your sewin' machine, but I prefer the look of hand stitched.

Ta-dah! That's it! Now make another one so your dollie can applaud you for a job well done!

She's Wanted, Dead Or Alive...

Today the scale is tippin' more towards the dead side.

I just got back from my mornin' walk. I thought it odd the only canine daughters to greet me were Darla and Gracie. Hmmmm... Where oh where could Hannah be?

Did she run away from home?!

Could she have been dog-napped?!

Nope...

(I'm not that lucky)

I found this.
While I was gone, Hannah was at it again and pulled another "Mary Lou Retton" move. She managed to catapult herself up onto my computer chair and grab one of my Staheekum slippers off my desk. She still has some red flannel stuck between her teeth. Man, I loved those slippers too.

Mind you before I even walk out to get my mail, I scan the area for anythin' she might consider a tasty tidbit. She can't be trusted.

I am at my wits' end with this dog! Heck she's almost nine years old, shouldn't she be out of this "phase"? Unless I duct tape her to an immovable object, I don't know what else to do!

Maybe Jon Bon Jovi will take her.
Better yet... Maybe he'll take me instead.

Will He Or Won't He...

Tomorrow is Groundhog Day and furry lil' Punxsutawney Phil has a 50% chance of gettin' it right.

If he doesn't see his shadow, it means we'll have an early spring. (YaY!)
But if he does, that means six more weeks of winter. (Ugh!)

And if we have six more weeks of winter...

Well let's just say I'll be "celebratin'" with some groundhog stew.

Groundhog. The other white meat.
