Attn: All Texters...

Went For A Drive...

along these wonderful, rural, back country roads near the ol' Countryfolk homestead.
I came upon an old cemetery.

I love old cemeteries.
Not because of their creepiness, but because of their history. Some headstones dated back to the American Revolutionary War.

As I looked up at the flag pole in front of the cemetery, I saw this.

While most folks would be appalled at the disrespectful sight of this tattered American flag, I found it quite comfortin'.

You see, even after all the harsh elements that were tossed it's way, it has withstood and persevered.

I see determination. I see resolve.
Just like the true American spirit, past and present.

Hang on and never give up no matter how rough it may get.

Is Nothin' Sacred Anymore...

My hubs mentioned to me yesterday his buddy's (from work) sweet wife was sellin' those World's Finest Chocolate Candy Bars. My eyes lit up like a pinball machine when he told me he ordered six of 'em.

Oooooh! I remember sellin' them as a young'un to raise money for class trips. They were a h-u-g-e, thick, doubled rowed candy bar with almonds the size of Buicks in every bite! They went for 50 cents. I can even picture the box with the lil' handle I toted them around in!

My mouth watered all day with anticipation!!

He walks through the door, hands me the bag. I ripped into it like a monkey on a cupcake only to find this.
What the???!!!

Is this some kind of cruel candy bar joke?! My old ruler is thicker than this thing.

Where the heck is the gigantic double rowed bar with almonds the size of Buicks?! For the record, I can tell ya they aren't in there. Only lil' pieces of almonds. Pffft!

I don't get it? In a society where we overindulge and supersize everythin', the "food police" decide to crack down on the lone chocolate bar that's sold once a year in schools?
It's true... Nothin' is sacred anymore.

P.S.
If they ever stop makin' Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum I can tell ya right now, it ain't gonna be pretty.

Thank You For Bein' A Friend...

Sometimes the best kind of friend to have is the four legged kind.

Sure he may pee on the carpetin', chew a hole the size of Texas in your brand new couch, tear the wallpaper off in the bathroom to his exact height, destroy mittens, eat fly swatters, bark at nothin' at 3:00am scarin' the beejeepers out of you, and take off like a bat out of h*ll when you open the back door...
But he will surely keep you toasty warm as he lays next to you on a chilly day. It's so worth it.

Daddy's Lil' Girl Has A Boo-Boo...

Our poor baby Gracie fractured a tooth chewin' on those dang Nylabones and tomorrow mornin' I have to drop her off at the vets to have the tooth extracted.

She's a lil' bit of a thing and I am worried sick about her bein' under anesthesia and cringe at the thought of havin' to leave her there.

So I ask that you please keep our baby Gracie in your prayers.

Or do you see the resemblance too?

I am more weirded out by this than the whole weird Alice In Wonderland movie in general.

Man, I love Johnny Depp but I don't think I could sit through that movie. I'd be anticipatin' him rollin' around on the ground in a taffeta weddin' dress, white ankle socks and pumps. And I'm guessin' he would if he had the opportunity to do so.
(Personally, I prefer him as a pirate with heavy eyeliner.)

Minus the muscles or course. Poor Johnny is so scrawny. He could really use a creatine supplement.

I bet Madonna would kick sand in his face if she saw him on the beach.
And by the looks of her, she could probably bench press him too.
